Zoomer born in 2000 here. Why do uncs goon over CN City?
>>
>>151640862
It was kino seeing your favorite characters all interact.
>>
>>151640862
It's funny because real uncs hated CN City and gooned over the Powerhouse era
>>
the fuck is an unc
is this the newest zoom zoom word
>>
>>151640862
the concept of a crossover only makes sense on cable TV
when shows air in adjacent time slots it's very likely a viewer has seen both shows

on streaming services crossovers make no sense

picrel is currently "airing" on Netflix despite Netflix losing the right to stream one of these shows
>>
It's a relic from a golden age where cartoons were actually professionally produced and commercially viable instead of financially suicidal passion projects by autistic youtubers
>>
>>151641020
A very good university.
>>
>>151641020
It means anyone older than them because Zommies are like Hollywood bitches and unnaturally scared of getting older. Not old, just older. It may just be me but my parents didnt have me until their 30s and I never considered them to be old until they hit 60s. Meanwhile, zoomers are out here calling people in their mid 20s "unc."
>>
You didn't watch cartoon network until you were 7?
>>
>>151641091
My dude I’m a zoomer in my mid 20s. Uncs are anyone older than zoomers but younger than boomers in my eyes
>>
People calling this a 'crossover' don't understand what it is in marketing language. It's brand synergy, it's brand identity, it's creating the sense of an era that you can either experience or miss out on. "Samurai Jack and Johnny Bravo do laundry" isn't what the usual crossovers look like, but showing all these characters together in every single ad break creates an invitation of "hey you, you like Samurai Jack. Watch Johnny Bravo."

Unc is an alpha word used to describe anyone older than them
Mid 20s is still unc territory, you're old now zooms and only going to get older, welcome to the club.
>>
>>151640862
Dude I was born in 2000 as well and experienced CN City, did you not watch CN when you were like 4 to 7?
>>
>>151641335
I recall Powerhouse doing a lot of the same thing, like the Powerpuff Girls saving the Superfriends or Fred Flintstone carpooling with Chicken and Thundarr.
>>
>There are anons here that don't know Powerhouse was CN's peak
How postively grim

Gen alphas are lil bros, guppies, rugrats
>>
>>151641384
It's all the same strategy, just different variations and levels of funding/ambition.
>>
>>151641335
Multiple things can be true anon, it's still a crossover because they had characters from multiple series interacting, it's basic semantics.
>>
>>151640862
My fav CN era, and I'm 22.
>>
>>151640862
They used to experiment all of the time, and then they got to Check It, and that's the halfway point of cartoon network's lifespan, and they haven't changed in 15 years
>>
>>151640862
>uncs
>goon
This is obviously bait but it has been a while since the last CN City thread so I'll let it slide.

If you switch channels the moment Johnny Bravo shows up, you're not watching the laundry bumper, let alone be convinced to watch his show because of it.
CN City existed because crossovers are cool, and someone who thinks your brand is cool will ask their parents to buy things related to.
>>
CN City had cool bumpers but holy fuck was the actual lineup of shows on the network like 60% utter trash.
Powerhouse era is still better for the sheer fact that most of the things they played were good.
>>
>>151642099
>things related to it.
Fixed.
>>
Man your parents are fucking lame if they forced you to watch only TV-Y. Even a 4 year old can grow up watching TV-Y7, TV-G or TV-PG. Nobody actually listened to those unless if they had like sex or blood.
>>
>>151642115
Examples? Most of the new shows were decent enough to be watchable from what I recall.
>>
>>151642178
More than half the lineup CN acquired from other studios ended up being really weak stuff like Pet Alien, The Cramp Twins, Krypto the Superdog, and Mucha Lucha.
As far as originals, we got Juniper Lee, Camp Lazlo, Gym Partner, Class of 3000 and Ben 10, all of which I'd say are pretty mediocre and not fondly remembered aside from Ben 10, which I just didn't really like but that's more up to personal preference.
Powerhouse might have had way too many Scooby Doo and Tom and Jerry reruns, but I'll take that over Tickle U.

2002 unc here, (you're an unc too unc)
CN city was awesome and cool
>>
>>151642178
Camp Lazlo, My Gym Partner's a Monkey, Squirrel Boy, Juniper Lee and Puffy AmiYumi were all very mid. Ben 10 was cool, Megas XLR too but it was very short lived
>>
Juniper Lee was basically the Anti-(Hi)Kari

I don't get the trend of making bait threads like this when if you're born between 1997-2002ish you would have definitely remember CN City, Boomerang, etc.

Is it like a subtle gatekeeping technique?

Born in 94 here, holy shit where does time go?
>>
>>151640930
they did that on cartoon fridays in the early 2000s too
>DEX BABY YOU'RE UP
>>
>>151641460
Powerhouse coincided with CN's quality peak but CN City was the best era in terms of the bumpers, in spite of the channel's actual quality of content starting to decline during that era. Even then the CN City era still had some gems like Megas XLR, Samurai Jack, a substantial part of EEnE, etc. so it wasn't all bad. CN from roughly 1998 - 2005 was the overall peak of the network IMO, and you could split that across both sides of 2002 as a gradual rise and gradual fall.
>>
>>151641020
Who cares. It will stopped being used in a month and some other word will replace it.
>>
>Cartoon Cartoon Fridays
>Cartoon City
>Kids WB lot.
>House of Mouse

"Unc" is just another black term stolen by whites like

>>
>>151643669
Nah, CN City was fun and lots of charm in its own right. But Powerhouse era bumpers and promos were some of the best the channel ever had, and helped really sell that CN was a channel for cartoon lovers of all ages.
