>Shrek 5 >Toy Story 5 >Minions 3 >Simpsons Movie 2 why
money
isnt it weird how toy story 5 and deltarune chapter 5 come out the same year?
>>151650981People only want familiar thing, studios pussy out on trying anything new
>>151651039If you asked 100 random people if they would rather have endless sequels to things they recognize or see something brand new I think most people would say new.
>>151650981Sweet delicious moolah for coke and heroin.
>>151650981I'll at least check out the Simpsons movie, as long as it's not CG. I'm done with CG.
>>151651953You know good and well that isn't true https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYb9NW7ck60
>>151650981SHEEN FROM JIMMY NEUTRON DIED PUT ON THE NEWS
>>151651953lollmao even
Thank god for indie
>>151652751>it's real
>>151652751what the FUCK
>>151650981Cinema is dead
>>151650981
>>151650981Because the retarded masses and foreigners keep going to see them.
>>151655164Good original films also constantly flop. Box Office depende on a lot of things beyond quality, but IP by and large is the biggest preference of audiences.
>>151651039yeah let's all watch shit like elio
>>151652733It's very true, execs would rather reheat existing IPs because it has a higher chance of success
>>151655279Oh no chudbros, we were too racist to see the heckin diverse show.
>>151655279If their original stories didn't look like ugly gay dogshit people might go see them.
>>151655279Lmao Disney barely even advertised this movie, I saw zero trailers or ads on it until it released weeks later. They clearly don't have faith in their new content
>>151651953They SAY that, but the numbers don't correlate. New things generally don't do nearly as well at the box office as sequels, and especially not remakes.A live action Shrek 1 remake will do significantly better than a Shrek 6, and both will do significantly better than a new IP entirely, assuming they were all equal quality.
>>151650981>Studios are making less money>Studios lose their appetite for risk>Studios accept only proven cash-cow IPs and safe, focus-group friendly storylines>Audiences see the same movie they've seen a dozen other times>Audiences refuse to watch it>Studios make less moneyTL;DR Risk-adverseness in a creative field is a death spiral
>>151650981No one watches original movies anymore, unless they’re about talking animals
>>151650981Please tell me you're joking These can't be real...
>>151651039>new IPsEverytime something new comes out it's either really shit or really bland and boring.
>>151652751>made a thread shitting on Planet Sheen last week>the fucking VA dies God has a sick sense of humor.
>>151658892Yep, ALL real. Along with SpongeBob Movie 4!
>>151655279I can't believe Elio came out only this year. Feels at least three years old already
>>151655279>main character looks like he has communion wafers in his mouth$200 million budget.
>>151650981Shrek could use a dental plan
>>151650981Because normalfags in 201X-202X:1. Only like things they're already familiar with, IPs they already know, etc. If they haven't heard of it more than, like, a couple ads, it doesn't exist.2. Are so strict about following #1 that companies can make a low-budget/low-effort sequel to something, have no risk of this backfiring, and bank on all the old fans to throw billions at them, then walk away laughing as they cancel the franchise like it's a crypto pump-and-dump.3. Normalfags love feeling nostalgic about the good old days. Nostalgiabaiting is super "in" right now, with tons of remakes and sequels for everything, or indie games cloning older games.4. Are stupid enough to hear "wow, that sequel to [movie/game] was awful, holy shit" and think "it can't be THAT bad" and go buy/watch it. (See Metroid Prime 4, Thundercats Roar, and lots of movie sequels/spinoffs.)>>151651953lol, lmaoooo...Bruh, normalfags and a lot of non-normalfags do NOT even touch anything they haven't heard of, unless it goes viral in advance. Ads help, famous actors being in it helps, and being made by companies they know helps too, since all it really takes is familiarity, but that stuff only goes so far. It's so bad that it's super common for people to say "I haven't heard of it, so it must be bad" or something similar but worded a bit nicer.I'd say the only exception to this is when something is sold at a premium price, which ends up overriding that with "wow, it's expensive so it must be good!", like with that whole "Palessi" thing Payless Shoes did.
>>151661647Could he afford it?
>>151651953Yep and those people are fucking lying.
>>151650981And they dont give sequels to shit that needs or deserves it like over the hedge, wir, oliver and company, rescuers, bh6 and Madagascar 4
