Fantastic Four has never, ever, ever, ever been popular in any incarnation whatsoever. The only types of people who have ever "liked" it are the literal Simpsons fat comic store nerd types who only "enjoy" it on some autismo collector/trivia/lore level and not any genuine attachment to its story or characters. It has failed every single attempt to make something of itself because it is just the most aggressively bland and uninteresting set of characters and personality archetypes and no amount of attempting to punch it up and make it spicier ever, ever, works. It's just literal appeal-kryptonite. I will give a honorable mention nod to Ben Grimm because they sometimes manage to make him a sympathic and endearing character but the problem is he has exactly that one note and it's pretty well played out.
