When and why did the perception of Deadpool go from fan favorite to "Reddit hero"
>>151660491>”Wade, easy on the roids.”
>>151660491He appeals to friendless severally autistic losers.
>>151660524That mean he’s perfect for /co/
>>151660545Sadly, true. The self made intellectuals and philosophers of comics are a bygone breed.
>>1516604912015~16.
>>151660491The movie.
>>151660491hollywood writers keep making him do zesty jokes.
>>151660738Remember when they showed his toddler penis? Wasn't that funny?
>>151660491Started with Waypool panels being posted for internet lulz, cemented with the video game and eventual movie
>>151660491when Ryan Reynolds became associated with him
>>151660491Literally the Way run is what did it. It was really popular and introduced a lot of people to Deadpool.
They took all the nuts off the character and made him a wholesome 100 wisecracker. Bring back serial killer Daffy Duck
>>151660491Waypool
>>151660491Daniel Way's run. Way wanted DP to be a villain again but the backlash was so great he overcompensated the wacky good guy angle until it became Reddit cringe, made worse by the fact that Way's run was the first time his book actually sold
>>151661099I liked the first issue, does it really get that bad?
Deadpool has been a pointless character since this panel.
>>151661975Which run is this from?
>>151661988Cable and Deadpool.
>>151660491>dude fourth wall breaks lmao>dude wacky nihilism lmao>dude tacos and chimichangas lmao>dude my little yellow boxes lmao>dude I'm not spider-man lmao
>>151660491It happened in the 2008 run not this one, Kelly's writing is actually really good. its thick and wordy by modern standards and he's actually telling a story with sincere emotions. The Way run is when he started being inserted into everything as a clown and it had no overarching story or character arc while also shitting on everything that came before. Deadpool & Cable is also good, probably the last good one, but again its not all about him and it started being way sillier there. So probably 2008. The first 2 movies are also focused on Kellypool because they know its best.
>>151661323yes but id say the overall problem is it doesnt progress or tell a story, every arc is like the first issue. There are times where it might progress Wades ccharacter and then it just doesnt and moves on to the next wacky setpiece. Also ignores his cast of friends from previous runs, he reunites with Wiesel for 1 issue and does not fix his relationship with him then wiesel is just ignored after that. The only good arcs, just due to focusing on action and a tight plot, were thunderbolts and Dark Hawkeye/Bullseye
>>151661975Well put thats why id say this series began the decline but it was solidified in Ways run.
>>151662036And none of that was really in Kellys run he was still a bad guy and it didnt shy away from showing that. Everything with Tray was to highlight he is a villain and cant escape that.
>>151660491Waypool. Anyone saying anything made before that is an actual redditor and needs to go back there
