I thought it was a good episode. I didn't like how Fennel and Fionna couldn't just stay friends. Also thought the crashout was justified. The gang was going to lose the spot over settling for just cookies, Marshall/Gary had to be coaxed to even attend, and they just celebrate without Fionna. Seemed really dick.

Retcons aside I really enjoy the relationship these two are implied to have.
Thinking more about it, the other reason aside from that tweet that I don’t think they’re going to just give HW a sad ending is because she’s been sidelined hard this season. Her character development has been dragged and stretched out extremely thin where it has really been episode 7 before she has had some inkling of her issues. I think the writers know this and probably pity her because of that, which would make sense if they rush her character development in the last two episodes and throw her a happy ending because they know they’ve done jack-shit with her aside from a few moments. They’ll probably try to placate the audience with a huge confession and kiss between HW and Finn. If they’re that desperate, they’ll do the Finntress kid ending because they know everyone would love that and overlook most of the problems of the season if it means HW gets that treatment. With season 1, it was much better-paced when it worked with Simon and he had way more chances to shine and develop, especially when he interacted with Fionna and told her stories of his relationship with Betty. His arc was about accepting his new life, letting go of the past and embracing the present. HW’s arc seems to be about addressing her present with Finn and thinking about the future and what she wants out of her life with him. However, this has not been developed very well when it should’ve been a thing spread out all over the season. Instead, they’ll cram it all into the last two episodes which sucks.

I’m guessing next episode is gonna open with HW rummaging through Fionna’s mind to find out Fionna’s been having a lot of emotional issues and trauma. I think that will be when they speedrun through HW’s character development and have her actually befriend Fionna. She’ll probably try to comfort Fionna by talking a bit about herself and her relationship with Finn. Huntress might even bring up her dead parents, who knows. In any case once Fionna is comforted either some portal from the Heart will open or they get teleported back to court and find Finn. HW will learn for sure later that the Heart is dead and her chances for curing Finn is gone. From there, who knows what’ll happen. We either get a breakdown scene when she sees Finn looks even more fucked up or she might go completely ballistic.

But it was fucking obvious at the end of that episode they were just setting up Boys Night to be even more of a clusterfuck and they delivered. I know people think it's a cop out but you really aren't meant to like Fionna or her decisions this season and people don't like that because they already like Fionna and don't like it when she a horrendous cunt even though it makes sense why she's doing what's she's doing. Those audience just doesn't like this kind kf storytelling especially when they expected something more fun with likeable herosPlus this season's pacing being shit made getting to this point frustrating than satisfying
