Reminder that Comedian only went to Moloch with his drunk ramblings because Ozymandias stored his sooper seekrit 'I GAVE MANHATTAN'S FRIENDS CANCER' list on the same island as the squid project even though there's no reason to write anything down for so few people and no reason not to destroy any files as soon as the last target gets sick and even if for some reason you must retain the list, no reason to put it on the island BRAVO MOORE
>>151695199Best comic book of all time
>>151695199This is probably based on something real.
>>151695199You forget that Ozymandias installed the main headquarter on that island. So they had many files there to plan and execute the orders. You need that list there or otherwise someone would stumble upon it in New York and easily connect it with Ozymandias. What you forget or dont get is that the Comedian knows secret stuff. He didnt get the full picture after reading it but did some research and connect the dots. What we see are just some points in this chain of events, condensed retelling from characters.
>>151696158Probably James Bond and Watergate.
>>151696625This is very weak. Moore simply hustles you over the absurdity of storing your cancer list with your monster manufacturing plans. Everything else is pretty good in those scenes so he got away with it. But now it's brought up, it will niggle at you on re reads
The ending with NYC all cleaned up so soon bothered me a bit. 3 million rotting bodies nigga!
>>151696158>>151696635Look into the Onassis/Hughes feud. Insane bit of history that ties into Nixon, Vietnam, and the Kennedy assassinationhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VibuUNs1yy8https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpqdgWWG6Gw
The cancer list isn't the only problem. As far as anyone on the island knows they've been making the ultimate monster movie under an intense NDA for a huge payday. The paperwork they produce will reflect that belief. Even the genetic guys think they are growing the ultimate special effect, not a city killer. It's all compartmentalized. Only Ozy does the final integration of psychic squid and the horror media to get the lethal effect when he teleports and kills the thing simultaneously. So how does Blake learn anything truly alarming by snooping around the island?
>>151695199As funky as this mystery is, it makes more logical sense than Identity Crisis.
>>151695199These sorts of things always have a paper trail. Too many mechanisms at play to just memorize or automate.Eddie understands conspiracy. He had experience with black ops. So he'd know how to read it. His status as a government-backed vigilante gave him this level of access.>>151696114One of the best.
>>151700134There's no reason any assassination paperwork should be there. It's ludicrous.
it's a bit convoluted, but I do like the idea of even the cockiest hero breaking down over something that's way beyond his pay grade
>>151696959I dont see any problem with it. It is the headquarter and i expect that there is everything stored. They never expected the Comedian to show up on the island. This doesnt hurt my readers believe, but i have the feeling that i should?
>>151697033It was a little bit quick, but it should be noted how quick the americans can pack things by its legs.Pic was New York 9/11 one year later.
>>151697300Good question. But the Comedian knows shit and bothered to fully investigate and read everything. So he is one step above all the scientists who dont have any top secret level clearance.
>>151700883There is just paperwork that is made and stored. Back than it were paper files. Now it is data files. When you dont do it all by yourself, but under a company disguise, there is just paperwork done.Look at all the Panama Papers and other Wikileak stuff. It is weird how much data is created even if it is dangerous when a reporter finds it.
The Army sending a gi to paint radiation hazard on Manhattans quarters is pretty dumb too. This sounds like a long in planning soviet psyop. They can give people cancer too and have no scruples doing so. The brass should be there to tell him they don't believe Doug fucking Roth and neither should he. They tested him; he only emits radiation voluntarily
>>151701045It's different when you're finding decomposing bodies in backrooms all over the city for months. Everything happening in November is a slight break
When you're a teenager, you think Watchmen is mature. When you grow up some more you realize it's merely adolescent.
>>151697058>look up this obvious shitty fraud released by the KGB in the 1970s
>>151701760Your mom's adolescent
So after Squid Day everyone knows telepathy is real and can kill lots of people? That's a very different mental world you'd be living in
>>151697033Given the wealth unattended in Manhattan I'd expect looting gangs streaming into the city
>>151702701Mafia loot gangs vs Manhattanites driven homicidal maniacs by squid rays vs authorities trying to cope with all this and every journalist in the world trying to cover it is the kind of supplemental fiction we need
>>151702544they already live in a world with doc manhattan and iirc moloch was already a telepath himself, so not really?
>>151701846
>>151703116Moloch was a phoney mentalist stage act. You're right that Manhattan makes the mind body problem pretty wild so I imagine psychic shit has a bit more credence among the educated than in our world
>>151701306Dont underestimate the need for taking quick actions. If Manhattan emits something else that causes cancer, noone wants to be the one who didnt took precautions.
>>151701430Sure, but you had pulverized bodies and ash over the whole island. Finding a dead body in a backroom or backalley in New York could mean just a normal monday. But i get what you mean. Million is different than three thousand casualties.
>>151702544>>151703194I think >>151703116 is right. There are psychics known. Even if they are just showbiz psychics like magicians. And i know magicians are not psychics, but you know what i mean. But there is a reason why the 90s had X-Files, the people believed more in psychics and higher things. Kinda similar to all those reptiloids and flat earths in the 2010s.
>>151703812The thing about that is educated people pooh pooh psychic stuff, it's not part of serious public conversation but after Squiddy no one has that luxury. It's real enough to kill you
>>151703866You are right. It became more real. I wonder if they would differ between psychics and aliens that uses telepathy. Or if thats just mindstuff.
