Of course Moore had to be a contrarian fuck rather than keep it to the end of the Victorian era/Edwardian period for the most part and maybe go as far as Big Brother in an Epilogue volume. This series may have been a classic had they actually stuck to what made it charming and enticing in the first place, but no. We needed bullshit upon bullshit for him to vent his seethe towards James Bond and Harry Potter. What a waste.

I read it all again last year. I'd forgotten how stupid it got after the first couple of books, which is never a god sign. But hey ho that's just the way it is with Moore. He can't keep a good thing going for all the nachos in Arizona.

There's no shortage of fun stuff they could have done. Have Tarzan, bring in Dorian Grey, have Victor Frankenstein. Plenty of adventures to be had keeping within the general period and formula that made vol 1 and 2 enjoyable to read.

>oh in vol whatever is some macguffin and it's hidden away in the ruins of Wuthering Heights and Mina and John Watson as a new member encounter the spirit of Heathcliff
Shit like that, it sounds dumb to write down but that's what the series initially charming, shit like Vol 1 all being a big pissing contest between Moriarty and Fu Manchu (the latter of which survived vol 1 entirely and was a serious threat and villain candidate)

Harry Potter and James Bond? Nigga grow up.
>>

>Nigga grow up.
Tell that to Moore retard. He used the latter volumes as a vehicles to shit over Harry Potter and James Bond rather than telling decent fun stories.

Exactly my point, you're crying because he shit all over your precious slop.

Why is Captain Nemo brownmaxxing with a turban in all modern media when one of the points with his character is that he maintained an ambiguous appearence and dress so the protagonists couldn't figure out whether he was southern european, persian or north indian?
>>
The League comics after the second are some of the worst comics I've ever read.
>>
Why does Moore have such a boner for the gollywog?
>>

He's a man of a certain age.

I've read worse shit recommended by /co/.

Honestly, if he did properly read Harry Potter, he would have had far more material to work with than "Potter's a washed up junkie anti-christ who was also a school shooter". Same with James Bond. Really, there are a lot of things that Moore just refused to engage or even acknowledge in favor of retarded shit like trying to redeem the fucking Golliwog of all things or his pet character Orlando. No Once and Future King, no Borrowers, no Discworld, no Captain Pugwash, no Beano, no Dr. Who, no Blackadder, nothing even vaguely modern.

To me, that's the real disappointing part. He can and should have shat on Harry Potter and James Bond HARDER if he was going to bother including them at all. He can and should have gone all in on showing off british superhero antics and how their time conflicts with what the league wants/is trying to achieve if he was just going to shit on cape comics yet again in the end. He can and should have just gone all in on the weird scifi apocalypse the world was plunged into if he was going to reference 2000 AD that hard. Instead, he just...gave up. Just one massive waste of time after such a solid premise from the first two volumes.

My friend had these back in the day and I remember reading the one that came with 3D glasses and I thought it was pretty cool. Wish more comics came with glasses

Yeah, bad things being bad are a not god sign.

The later volumes have their moments.

>Beano

One of his other works does have a strong Beano connection.

The Show has a character from Beano in it but only if you look closely.

>>151697718
I'm going to read it all soon. Can't be that bad.
>>151697818
I've definitely read some real stinkers that this board was parading as amazing.
>>151697826
There are already thousands of references, from what I've seen. I think one of the covers was a Beano-styled comic.

Difference between visual reference and actually doing something with said reference. Lara Croft and Astro Boy show up at the very last second, but they don't fucking do anything with that page space.
