This makes it easy to right jokes for them or other goofy highjinks that make the audience go "Haha so relatable " with their own pet or dog they are familiar with. Add in the fact that they're many breeds for different types of jobs and they become very flexible with what you can design them for and the animation itself can help reflect this.
