i finally got freetime to watch it

and it is the worse episode by far, nothing fucking happened (let me clarify i didnt expect them to actually be able to leave thats just stupid but i expected more from this episode, it honestly felt fanmade) im not really a plotfag but i just wished there was more development at the end of the ep
>>
in a series that is only 9 episodes long with months between each episode, the worse an ep can be is being a filler

that is what ep7 felt like.

also

this was his real sin
>>
the smiling friends fish were the only good part
>>
Allegedly this and the next episode were originally written as one single episode but they couldn't figure out how to compress it down.

I liked the Chinese room joke

>the dynamic between Caine and the human cast are forever altered
>Caine is revealed to be far more sinister, if naively so, than previously thought
>"nothing happened tho"
Well what did you expect? Whatever the case, we're in the final act of the story and stuff is, in fact, happening.
>>
>>151712595
They should've just kept this episode as a beach adventure (I know, in the middle of December, but it’s hilarious) and have the next one be loreshit. I need more scenes of Gangle in her summer dress goddammit.
>>
>>151713253
Agreed
There is a lot you can do with a beach episode
Why do they refuse to take the good elements of slice of life anime (long scenes of characters chilling) while keeping the bad ones (characters having emotion time in a dark room)?
>>
>>151713376
because these characters are boring and watching them interact is a chore
>>
>>151713439
so are most anime girls but they make it work

Almost every episode of this series has been filler. They’ve dragged the Jax is le sad ‘arc’ out for three fucking episodes
>>
>>151713231
All of that happens in the last 30 seconds of the episode. If that was all they were gonna do with this episode they could have trimmed the entire escape fakeout to a 5-minute sequence and trimmed the LSD sequence from 3 minutes to 30 seconds and the episode would have come out two months ago.

>nothing fucking happened
Everyone now understands Kinger and darkness.
More hitting at Jax's past and set up for abstraction.
We also now know the full rules about what can be done to their minds.
More about the office and how that is unrelated to the fake out.

More than most episodes.
>>
>>151713875
>All of that happens in the last 30 seconds of the episode
Yeah, it's building up to it. You could say it could've been paced better, but watching the premiere live, it was effective at building tension. Besides, the fallout of the whole thing is meant to be the focus of the next, last two episodes, so it makes sense not to dwell on it too much.
>>
Kinger almost certainly helped make the circus, he just got confused when Abel was mentioned because Cain made him up.

My crack theory now is that Jax meant something else besides the exit being fake when he said "I was right", possibly talking more about Cain's mind altering.

I dont understand why everyone acts like Kinger remembering scratch while in the light didnt even happen
>>
>>151712316
7 episodes in and you're only now upset that there hasn't been some big plot happening exactly the way you expected?

There was stuff that happened, but a lot of the episode is stuff that ultimately doesn't matter. Worse, it retroactively makes seemingly-significant details from previous episodes actually unimportant, and makes the time spent on bringing them to the audience's attention a waste.
>>
>>151714890
I can't believe they couldn't use official Spongebob merch in this scene. The copyright system is fucking retarded.
>>
>>151715222
>they couldn't use merch for the show THAT THEY OWN
>on the show THAT THEY OWN
>so they had to commission fake merch as props in a one-time gag
Fuckin'... huh? Are we sure that's copyright and not some technicality about regulations that involve advertising being part of programming? Otherwise, what the grandma-tittyfuck is the point?
>>
>>151715296
I guess maybe they need to have permission from the actual merch companies?
>>
>>151715296
>>151715306
It's actually television law, you can't display your own merch on your own show because then it becomes blatant advertising
>>
>>151715196
>Worse, it retroactively makes seemingly-significant details from previous episodes actually unimportant, and makes the time spent on bringing them to the audience's attention a waste.
I think this is what pisses a lot of people off the most. With how much of a mess MD was at actually laying out it's plots, it was basically mandatory that you had to rewatch every episode five or six times and comb through the fucking background to try and piece shit together (or else read through long, elaborate forum posts where people had assembled all the important information).

ADC has been similarly messy and close to the chest about laying most of the actually relevant plot information and so people have been doing the same thing, rewatching episodes, looking through backgrounds, picking up on details that were deliberately left there by the creators... only now instead of revealing actual plot details it's basically a big "ha ha! fuck you! it was all a ruse!" and people are pissed off at investing a lot of time and effort into something that didn't matter.

>LSD sequence from 3 minutes to 30 seconds
That sequence was by far the worst offender to me in this episode.
>>
>>151715592
same - after the first 20-30 seconds it was like
>okay. we get it.
but then it just kept fucking going
>>
>>151715592
>>151715701
This. It was annoying.
>>
>>151715592
No, it was the only good part aside from Jax's freakout and the reveal at the end.
>>
>>151715739
the freakout was also dragged out
