Also known as "The YA dragon books/comics for kids to young to remember what warrior cats was." Well we're here. This is a big one. Darkstalker is something of a big deal as WoF books go. Widely considered the 'best' book of the series with three POVs for a mid-arc prequel dropped before the Talons of power which by some good juggling on the WoF team's part is set to release right after this. The art is by one Jake Parker who was brought in since Mike has his plate full doing the main series. But enough prattling about the Scavengers, this is Darkstalker, and now you get to experience it as a comic.THREE DRAGONS. ONE DESTINY.THIS IS THE BEGINNING... OF THE END...In the SeaWing kingdom, a young prince learns he is an animus capable of wonderful magic that comes with a terrible price. In the mind of a Nightwing dragonet, a thousand futures unfold and almost all of them, she knows, lead to disaster and destruction. And under three full moons and the watchful eyes of his NightWing mother and IceWing father, the most powerful dragon Pyrhhia will ever know is clawing his way out of his egg: Darkstalker, the dragon who will change the world forever.Long before the SandWing war, lifetimes before the Dragonet Prophecy. darkness is born.>-Quote on BackcoverRegular words of introduction do not suffice for...DARKSTALKERhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUcrFKHMZ-k>Thread 1: "The dragonet prophecy" https://desuarchive.org/co/thread/129855279/>Thread 2: "The Lost Heir" https://desuarchive.org/co/thread/129890926/>Thread 3: "The Hidden Kingdomhttps://desuarchive.org/co/thread/129925480/>Thread 4: "The Dark Secret"https://desuarchive.org/co/thread/129954043/>Thread 5: "The Brightest Night" https://desuarchive.org/co/thread/129972905/>Thread 6: "Moon Rising"https://desuarchive.org/co/thread/134713773/>Thread 7: "Winter Turning"https://desuarchive.org/co/thread/141669409/>Thread 8: "Escaping peril"https://desuarchive.org/co/thread/146924673/
>>151716861And back cover. I've inadvertantly failed to include the back arts for a lot of these comics over my time hosting the comics so i'll probably do that come the end of this one.Regardless i should lay out my rules.,,namely that i don't care about you guys dropping images in the storytime, this comic will not be long enough to reach image cap
>>151716986Otherwise just try not to spoil stuff if you're already in the know for how Darkstalker goes. Also the main comics to i suppose.
HELL YEAH

>>151716861Good
>>151717438>>151717453If you think they're pretty now you'll be blown away soon enough. The new artist was actively improving his game over the course of the comic and it really shows in flexes that are his the background.

>>151718300I was kinda hopping they would squeeze the Runaway Winglet into the graphic novel, because it actually provided some quite important insights between this and the prologue.
>>151718300and for no reason whatsoever, Darkstalker hated his dad.
>>151718300DOOOM DOOOOM >>151718308Sizes and ages of dragons inside wof is really inconsistant over the books. I don't believe in the giant flora/Fauna theories, applied when Tui wrote arc 1, i think that gets canonized late in the game retroactivly to try and smooth it over but tui just writes like that. Bandit a human child(?) is minuscule compared to dragons and easily fits into the palm of Moon's hand, and Moon is only 4 herself, A 1 year old Cliff is larger than a human. Book 15 has a human pick a 2 year old dragonet and still go into an all out sprint beating a dragon and an unencumbered human in a footraceSize pretty much changes every time it's mentioned with TONS of inconsistencies. >>151718338Holy spelling batmen.
>>151718300A bit dissapointed that the third moon only gives you an amp and not a third power. Telekinesis or illusory powers would have been cool>>151718382The author confirmed that we will get graphic novel adaptations of the Winglets

>>151718778
>>151717586Yeah, this is a bit closer to how they're depicted on the covers of the actual novels, the coloring books, and tribe description sheets; my one complaint is that this comic depicts the characters as being bipedal too often, when they're supposed to be primarily quadrupeds. Mike Holmes (the guy who did the mainline comic adaptations) just really seems to struggle with drawing nonhumans, hence the weird faces and wonky proportions.
>>151718737look at it.pure, unfettered evil.
>>151718527>A 1 year old Cliff is larger than a human. He's mentioned as being the size of a Greyhound compared to Leaf in Legends: Dragonslayer.

If you want it. Lucky for him he's a smooth talker.Feel like all Icewings are secretly hopeless romantics. But that may be pure projection.
>>151719769Even without Runaways, she's more than a little bit of a cunt. Most the fights throughout are started by her. And she, of all dragons, should be able to see his mental state. If little baby Darkie can see how tortured his mind is, Foe as his mate has no excuses, regardless of mind reading. Snowflake would've been better. Maybe. Possibly. I'm sure they could've at least come to an arrangement.
>>151717289No wonder Snowflake hated him. Dude couldn't even remember her name, let alone the fact that he was supposed to marry her..
>>151721240I always thought it was hilarious how Nightwings are considered the best-looking tribe and are always stealing the hearts of others, without even trying in some cases.>Feel like all Icewings are secretly hopeless romanticsDeep down they just need someone to thaw out and free those icy hearts of theirs.
>>151721442To be fair, she didn't want to marry him in the first place either. She's got a nasty case of the lust for malevolent women, that I can relate to. Though even without it, you're not exactly wrong. Arctic isn't exactly a great catch, beyond prestige, given his attitude.
>>151721339>>151721442Queen Diamond chose her as Arctic’s future wife because she seemed like an obedient, disciplined, and loyal dragoness (and she hoped her son would eventually inherit some of those traits). But it was all an act; she actually hated Arctic for being a royal brat who would never have to worry about the Icewings' social credit system, because he was the queen’s son.Snowfox, Arctic’s cousin, noticed her disdain for him and told her about a plan to get rid of him (and along the way, they fell in love). In Icewing society, there are two ways to become queen: defeating the current queen in a duel to death or her abdicating the throne and naming you as the new queen. Since Snowfox is the only heir, she just needs to wait for Diamond to die of old age. But if Arctic has daughters, Snowfox would have no choice but to challenge the queen and she knew Diamond would tear her apart in a fight, even without magic.Snowfox pretended to support the relationship between Arctic and Foeslayer, and Arctic fell for it.On the last day of the diplomatic visit, Snowfox lied saying that Diamond had discovered them and ordered Foeslayer’s execution so Arctic decided to go after Foeslayer and flee the kingdom together. But Snowfox and Snowflake were an evil lesbian couple who couldn’t let him leave quietly and just as him and Foeslayer were about to escape, they alerted the guards.Arctic desperately casted an spell ordering the weapons of the guards to stop them but the weapons started to mangle the guards and Arctic couldn't stop the spell on time

>>151724372The worst thing is that Queen Coral retained her position as queen.I wouldn't be surprised if it is revealed in new books that her daughter Orca despite being crazy had a valid reason for wanting to dethrone her.
>>151724503Arc 1 is rather annoying in how family of our party members basically get a free pass for horrible actions. Grandeur, Thorn, Coral, they all seem to conveniently dodge critique. Hell, Thorn and Coral both murder a dragon before our eyes in cold blood, with only the softest of disapproval voiced by the main cast.Maybe it's a dragon thing...
>>151720035Is this one the Millenial Nighwing?
>>151725227It's part of how the dragon world works but with something else added to it being they were in middle of wars and not all tribes were in good conditions with not just each other but also themselves to begin with. >>151725378>"Dragon of chaos, tangling the web. Too many eyes, too many threads"What a great way to describe Clearsight. Man, I just adore the way these things do 'prophecy' that, strangely, always seems separate from visions. Always left an odd mystery attached to it, too. Like, why are they so different? Is it actually an inherent ability of those with foresight? Is it attached to someone, with the 'voice' for it? Or is it just coincidence, chance, and nothing more?Personal pet theory that has no real backing, but I like to imagine they're pieces Whiteout left. Maybe she has some semblance of abilities, much as Darkstalker, that due to her oddness, never came quite to light, but she used to ensure warnings were made to dragons who need them, or could make use of it. Does certainly fit her odd way of speaking, after all.
>>151725644>Whiteout left.>Maybe she has some semblance of abilities, much as Darkstalker, that due to her oddness, never came quite to light,Actually, that's literally true. Whiteout DOES have the power of Prophecy, but literally everyone overlooks her predictions and dismisses them as her usual weirdness...which is a shame, because every single one of them comes true. Pay close attention throughout this story every time she speaks, and you'll start to notice things...
Bump
>>151725990I'm meaning more in terms of animus abilities. But yes, that too.In general, her way of speaking is far more observant than most realize. I love it. Too bad baby Darkie was too selfish to share the moons with her. Might have changed more than a few things
