I am looking for my first iPad, I want to use it for drawing and learning how to animate, would you recommend a 11” or 13”? Thanks.

It's about 40% more screen size though, since it's the diagonal. It's a big difference.

Go with the 11" if you will be moving around a lot and drawing in different places.
If it's more casual and you have the space go 13"

Try them out at the store if you can. It’s a big difference. I have the 11 because it’s easier to carry around and use everywhere, size and weight wise. It’s big enough to draw on but 13 would be a better home workstation. For the $200 difference between the 11 and 13 you can find a HD Cintiq knockoff to use on your home PC and get the best of both worlds tho.

If you can afford an ipad pro, then go for it. It is way more efficient for drawing.

It doesn't even have to be new, I bought a used 12 inch one (but in good condition) back in 2016 and it's still working well.

Just be aware that there are like three or so apple pencils now, and only the pro one has pen pressure. So do proper research before buying.

I'm so used to having a shortcut button for everything on pc I can't even imagine how horrible it would be to switch to an ipad

If you want to to draw, the pen is more important than tablet. Some are exclusive to certain manufactures, so you should compare them first, then choose a compatible tablet.
