Alright, I'm not OP, but I also love Wonder Woman - she's my second favorite superhero just shy of Superman, and I love her so much I watched all of her movies. All four of them. (Two live action, two animated)I'm going to post some reviews, worst to best.Worst WW movie/4th best WW movie >Wonder Woman BloodlinesThis film is bad. It was part of the 'DCAMU' and was its second to last film. The animation is terrible, the story is really bad with in cramming in not only Diana's origin story, but also the Vanessa Kapetelis Silver Swan story, and a subplot about Diana being estranged from Hippolyta, and a bunch of random cameos from Wonder Woman rogues gallery. The script is really bad. There is genuinely a line in here where Hippolyta says to Diana "You're a real wonder woman."The only fight that was interesting at all was when, at the ending, Wonder Woman blinds herself with the poison of one of Medusa's hair-snakes to fight Medusa without being turned to stone. This film does have the best cinematic version of Etta Candy. Being a silly, fat, black lesbian who ends up with three Amazons around her by film's end and she looks hilariously ecstatic about it.This film isn't on HBO Max so I had to watch it on this dodgy pirate website that would link me to porn websites whenever I paused the dang thing. Fortunately I have a good adblocker.
>>151736549It’s common in Amazonian culture for mothers and daughters to embrace like that
>>151734941Do you buy her books?
>>151736603Alright now with the third best>Wonder Woman 1984I actually liked this movie.Of course it's completely retarded plot-wise. The ending is the dumbest thing I've seen in a capeshit movie (though admittedly I don't watch many capeshit films)But that didn't really harm my enjoyment. This film is fun, colorful, it has great action scenes, crazily over-the-top characters, some sweet romantic scenes, and an excellent soundtrack by Hans Zimmer. It is overlong. Considerably so. It could have been a half an hour shorter. And Barbara Anne Minerva Cheetah's whole subplot was redundant - they should have saved that for a later film.Pedro Pascal is great as Max Lord, hilarious and deeply entertaining performance.Gal Gadot is bad at acting. This whole thing reminds me of a silver age comic book. Mostly in a good way.Now I have not seen many superhero films. So maybe this is my unfamiliarity with the genre tinting my glasses rose, but I thought this movie was mostly pretty good. But again, you do need to deal with a plot which is utterly retarded. I can deal with that, you may not be able to.Steve Trevor just possesses some rando's soul for no fucking reason, which is hilarious. The wish stone could have just made him appearTheming-wise, this is an interesting film. I like how the film using the 80s capitalist spirit to tie into the concept of wishing for more and more without really needing it.But I think the film falters when it focuses on truth as the theme rather than the more salient and logical theme of greed.Outside of the logical failings of the ending, I think the attempt to tie the magic wish-giving stone to 'truth' just fell flat when a much more poignant and logical thematic option existed. The DCEU Wonder Woman theme doesn't work for a movie this silly7/10
>>151728005Too old
>>151730335We need more Buff Wondie art.
>>151736714Alright now for my pick for second best - the first ever Wonder Woman movie:>Wonder Woman (2009)This film is most interesting on a thematic level because it's the only WW movie which takes on gender relations as a core theme, but it isn't particularly feminist. This film is about how men and women need to come together more, to understand and cohabitate with each other. As well as the lasting consequences of gender-based hatred.Everything in this movie quite neatly ties into this message. This film's villain is Persephone who fell in love with the captured Ares because he was the only man on Themyscira and, due the Hippolyta being raped by Ares, Persephone for thousands of years was denied the ability to fall in love or start a family.Steve Trevor, played by Nathan Fillion, is a womanizing asshole who tries to trick Diana into fucking him by getting her drunk. But, he does this because he was heartbroken by a woman before and is putting on an act.Diana herself still falls for this piggish version of Steve Trevor. Likely because he's the first guy she's met and she doesn't know better.Ares and Hippolyta's rape baby is shown being the tortured slave of Hades. This all plays into how past pain inflicted by the other sex can manifest into behaviors and thoughts which still hurt us today. It's a surprisingly thoughtful film.I haven't talked about the actual film outside of its themes. It's pretty good. Animation, action, acting, score - all pretty nice.7.5/10
>>151736733WE love Wonder Loli too
>>151736825Welp it was obvious this would be the best one.>Wonder Woman (2017)Who would have thought that the DCEU, which had exclusively made garbage schlock up until this movie's release, would end up making one of the best representations of WW1 from mainstream Hollywood?A great use of setting, WW2017 makes its themes of war and the nature of humanity very apparent by utilizing one of the darkest and most morally grey conflicts in history. Gal Gadot gives her first and only good performance, and Chris Pine is excellent at a wonderful interpretation of Steve Trevor. The movie is thoughtful in regards to war, takes it very seriously. It is really impactful and striking seeing Diana, clad in her Wonderful armor, fight against the Germans to save that poor Belgian town. The extended cast of human, non-powered supporting characters are great. I still remember being moved by that sniper who was too shell shocked to shoot. It's unfortunate the ending had to go to the standard superhero action battle. The movie would have been much more poignant and meaningful had the Greek Pantheon not exist, but Diana would still fight for the good in the world anyway. There are few complaints I have about this movie, I think it's my favorite superhero film. Maybe even better than 1978's Superman.8.5/10
>>151736702Yes though the recent Mouse Man arc by Tom King dragging as much as the Sovereign story did.The fill in writers are the ones actually dealing with the lore and continuity like how the Amazons react to Diana having a daughter. What’s Nubia’s reaction. Where are the other villains, etc.And King relies too fucking much on Batman and Superman in Diana’s comic as if they were her only supporting cast.
>>151736702I'm buying Absolute Wonder Woman, but the main book right now is pretty lame. Tom King manages to be too serious to be fun and too poorly paced to be engaging
>>151736908i think im the only person who liked the wonder woman soundtrack/theme
>>151737629It's a bit weird for any film but the 2017 one, but it sounds good
>>151736702not the Tom King ones fuck no
