AFAIK It was some model that used AI to generate its movement. Miyazaki didn't like it because he believes that an animator needs to observe life and then learn from it, what is natural or unnatural, and how to draw intent from whatever it is you're trying to animate. I think he believed delegating that to a machine is absurd.

While I do agree with him for the most part, I do think that something like the intended application of the thing (making a creature that moves in an unnerving, unnatural way) is completely fine. You can add some human-made animation to it to fine-tune it and make it even more bizarre-looking.
