I miss when this fucker animated
what happened to him? I heard he now has some sort of affliction or illness that makes working on things hard
>>151754758Fibromyalgia, now he no longer animates. He just live streams
>>151754764horrible. hope he gets over it
Why is Max so ashamed of this era of content now?
>>151754747I like his streams
>>151754799because he made edgy jokes that were acceptable at the time but unacceptable nowbasically why every internet cartoonist who was active around that period puts on this show of being super progressive and wholesome; cause they feel like they have to make up for being an unwholesome evil natzi bigxt even though anyone with a brain knows that it was harmless
>>151754764Damn, I knew he had something, but fibromyalgia, for real? That's a shame. It has some psychological components to it.Well that's fine, I'm thankful for the work he has done, it was fun while it lasted. I don't see the streams much because I don't usually like watching streams, but good luck to the dude.
>>151754823I wish people would stop taking everything posted online so seriously. Some things should be viewed with a grain of salt.
Was Max a goth at some period of his life? Otherwise why else would he paint his nails black
>>151754747His edgy videos were good ,but damn he really improved with brain dump really liked that series from him.
>>151754747I don’t care if it’s middle school humor his horse show parodies were funny shit
>>151754799>>151754823>>151754865Everything is so sanitized now. The online environment for content creators, specially artists, has become this place where you practically need to grovel before and kiss the boots of whatever is deemed acceptable. You have to triple check everything so you don't offend anyone and get cancelled, and even then someone will find something to complain anyway.I dunno, might be just the nostalgia talking, but I liked when the internet was a wilder place. Now you have to sugarcoat everything, UNLESS it is something deemed acceptable for you to rage against by the wholesome chungus community.
Fun fact: he storyboarded an episode of SpongeBob
>>151754940Wisenheimers was one of the funniest podcasts ever and it was chock full of edgy shit. But that’s what made it great. I just can’t stand all this performative shit where people act like “you’re evil if you like that kind of humor” because no? It’s just a style of humor like anything else. And Wisenheimers rocked.
>>151754747When does he get a cameo on Smiling Friends?
>>151754898he was copycatting Stamper unironically
>>151754940I think I first realized this when twitter kiddies had a shitfit over Pico's School being in Friday Night Funkin because it's a game about a school shooting.I miss looking at edgy flashes on newgrounds.
>>151754823>anyone with a brain knows that it was harmlessYou get that thats less than 13% of people? And that at least half of those people themselves feel the need to pretend to go along with progressive moralizing as well?
>>151754781He talked about it in one of his streams.tl;dr he made peace with the idea that animation was a past era of his. He already produced a lot of stuff and seems content.
>>151755019>performative shit where people act like “you’re evil if you like that kind of humorThey do it on purpose. There are groups with interests whose ideas are strong and defendable. Those people dont care. Then theres groups woth interests whose ideas are flimsy. Those groups need to stifle critical discussion, even jokes, because to push back on their ideas at all will knock them down. 99% of people who want to make art and show it off and especially to make a career of it are not interested in being thought leaders who challenge existing structures of ideological authority. So when they get heat from a group offering a genuinenthreat, they cave. That leads to them always caving to certain kinds of ideas while continuing to be edgey and critical of others.
>>151755042Social media and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race.
>>151755087Wait what? I just assumed he was taking a break from it. Has he really said that he’s done with animation forever? That was in one of his streams??
>>151755037A lot of people were back then, he was still hot shit in the greater net animator communities
>>151755250I didn't say there weren't, but there's a difference between aping someone's animation/music and skinwalking them out of jealousy
>>151755270Max is naturally bald though, he didn't shave his head
>>151755283your nigger cartoon wasn't funnier than his nigger cartoon, max, get over it
>>151754747>>151754764Now he opens up his streams with drawing requests he's made, so it's not like he can't animate anymore. He just doesn't want to.
>>151754799WGJ4k was his magnum opus
>>151755203He hasn't literally said "I'm done with it.", but it's pretty clear that he stepped away for now, due to the condition >>151754764 mentioned. Not sure if it's something that can heal and allow him to do Brain Dump again.
How did Zach Hadel get away with making the same kind of edgy jokes back in the day without people throwing a fit over it?
>>151754758Cellular dehydration. Just eat meat, fast, and drink lots of water mixed with sea salt. Problems go away within a year. Then you can draw again.
>>151755512He was just a bit smaller than people like Egoraptor or whatever, so he slithers through the cracks like a snake.
>>151755203In like 2011 the youtube adsense package fir content creators was very friendly to animators. If you could get 1million views on a video that video could get you a thousand bucks. The high effort animators were getting mumtiple millions if views on their cartoons, and the views didn't stop after a couple days because people would rewatch them for years.Well then they changed how the ad allocations work and suddenly the long upload period between new animations severely penalized channels. It killed animation on yt all at once. After that was a slow degredation as some animators tried to keep up their usual quality, others tried to rapid fire short animations, but the magic was gone the gravy train derailed. They needed to get day jobs and that just took away more of their animating time.Brainrot itself was one of these "compromise" animation shows where he only needed a few assets and could easily make a +10 minute episode. But even thats not very sustainable and doesnt bring in the views like the mlp animations did.
>>151755881Mlp was always garbage lol.
>>151755881I can't imagine a more degrading "career" than being a YouTube video creator. Like, you're not an official employee of Google, they can take the rug out from you at any time, and if they fuck you over they don't even owe you anything since you're not really an employee of anything. The site's gonna suffer a slow decay now that all the talented people have left and all that's left are Indians making shitty video essays scripted by ChatGPT with an AI voiceover. It's kinda sad. Youtube in the 2010s was cool because it was a bunch of hobbyists goofing around who suddenly could profit from making internet cartoons.
>>151754799I don't even know how you could be ashamed of Wacky Game Jokez considering the whole thing is satiricalIt hasn't aged at all, everything he was saying about lazy parodies is still true, and the main character opposing them is an unlikable dick BECAUSE of his resistance to itThere is no opinion expressed that isn't torn apart and exposedThat's what I liked about his old work and hated about other people's from the timeHis narratives were clearly drawn from his own self hatred and discontent with his bitter attitudeMaybe that's old hat now, but it was incredible in the newgrounds cartoon eraIt's unironically art
>>151754747do you think hes possiblly a millionaire by now?
All these artists and animators need to just not apologize and not engage with people that complain about their past. Just ignore the complaints, keep doing stuff, people will come either way.The two options are to either abandon it altogether and do something else, like Max did, or to not engage in conversation with people over the past, and just do your thing. If you start talking about it, then you'll just be adding more and more fuel to the fire, you'll be giving those people what they want.I like Max, but personally I think above all he might just feel frustrated over his career. Everybody says he is a great artist/animator, and he is, but I think that he probably feels like he never took off, that he was forced to do stuff that people wanted rather than his own thing.I think he always seemed sad about it, even during the Tumblr days. He seemed frustrated that he never finished animation school, that he never got picked to do his own show, etc. I think he wanted more out of it, but never got lucky. He made original stuff, he made parodies of popular things, he made shorter videos, he switched to 3D, and then he just stopped and switched to gaming streams.Time and time again I think he was trying to find ways to make it feel right for him, but never did quite find it, unfortunately.
Is he still crying and begging for attention?
