How do you make your own streaming service? Too many companies are buying each other and monopolizing the entire entertainment industry. More people should have a chance to put their ideas out there. The more animation there is out there, the better. So, how do you start and what do you need?

Push for a Paramount decree for streaming services. Uncouple distributers and producers and the problem goes away
Copy what hart butchman did
>>151756002This is retarded. A few idiot wannabe indie animators were trying to push this idea awhile back as a way to help indies monetize their productions, but they don't realize that they'd essentially be rebuilding the same system they're trying to fight against. Creatives aside, building a service not only requires server space and code, but people to run and upkeep the site and database. It needs people to deal with customer service when individual customers have problems. It requires someone (or some people) to be in charge of programming unless the idea is to let any yahoo with a half-assed idea upload (which would create a lot of noise on the platform). You'd also need to figure out how to *actually* monetize it. All those people PLUS the creatives actually working on stuff would need to be paid. What is the model? If you want to run on subscriptions alone, how much could you charge and how much will go to whom? Could you really get enough subscribers to make it worthwhile to ALL the people it takes to run the service AND the creators? Then you start having to lure subscribers in which means programming shows that will cast the widest net as opposed to what may be the most interesting or creative. And if a show is no longer pulling in new money, it becomes hard to justify continuing to fund it when you could be throwing that money at something that will pull in more cash. Essentially, the problems that streaming services have are problems for a reason and anyone who tried to make their own would run into the same issues without the benefit of having coporate seed money to float the company while it gets built.
