I finally got more time. Tonight I saw (most of) the Animaniacs Christmas shorts. The first half was solid, with a funny take on The Night Before Christmas, a Chicken Boo short where he's a Mall Santa, and *BUUUUUUURRRRRP!*. Toy Shop Terror wasn't too Christmassy, but I always loved this one for how frantic and rapid-fire it is.Of course the REAL shit was with A Christmas Plotz and Little Drummer Warners. I always get a kick out of Yakko as Christmas Future, and the fake snow scene near the end. Little Drummer Warners is just a magical time. There's some comedy with a sudden big band jump near the end, and yet, this is still one of the more straight played and respectful Christian animations. Yeah, ANIMANIACS did it better than studios dedicated to Christian works. I always love this every year. As a chat member said on one of the streams, regardless of religion, you can't deny the birth of Jesus is a grand moment, symbolizing true peace and good will toward all. It's crazy how a Tom Ruegger cartoon understood that better than most.See you on the Viewer Suggestion stream!

On december 19th, Anguilla celebrates their National Heroes and Heroines Day, while Indian province of Goa celebrates Liberation Day, commemorating the region being taken over by India from the Portuguese. Ironically, since the cultural influences from those very Portuguese is exactly what I'll be talking about today. Most of it sounds familiar: Novena, the nine-day period of daily church services directly preceding Christmas, and ending with the Midnight Mass, has been mentioned several times (albeit using different names) in these posts, and paper lanterns are a staple around the world as well - although I guess Goa is the only place they call them "parols". More unique is the custom of preparing Christmas sweets (there's a whole list of different kinds, with neureos, kulkuks and bebinca being most often mentioned. The whole sweet spread is called "Kuswar") by the whole family, passing the recipes down through generations. Although apparently store-bought is becoming more and more popular. If you want something more savory, Sorpotel, a Portuguese-influenced pork curry, is a mainstay, as is prawn balchao or pork vindaloo. As for sides, there's Sanna, steamed rice cakes, and Perad, guava cheese.Goa is a tiny little region of India though, and outside of it, only a fraction of the population is Christian. The rest does have some other celebrations though, like Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti, celebrating the birth of the tenth and last Sikh Guru, happening late December or early January, depending on the Sikh Calendar.

The challenge objective is simple: maintain cheer‐level above minimum threshold, even if the instructions become slightly misaligned from reality.
>>151787674>An Australian aviator, Lieutenant Harris, is tasked with transporting a mysterious stone tablet near the end of World War II. But during the flight a supernatural storm engulfs the plane, warping nature’s laws and forcing the aircraft into the ocean — the crew emerges in a strange mist-shrouded zone littered with wrecks of ships from different eras. Back on the ground, no one believes Harris’s story: he’s court-martialled, jailed — and then escapes to track down lost pieces of the tablet. Together with the daughter of a kidnapped clergyman, they race a villainous military officer to recover the tablet and prevent him from using its power.>A weird, mythical creature who once lived peacefully in nature has been driven into isolation when urban sprawl destroyed his home. As his food supply dwindles and odd, hostile townsfolk begin to encroach, he is confronted by a bigoted man and forced into extreme measures to survive. What follows is less a traditional narrative than a sequence of strange, surreal, and often grotesque encounters — the creature battles crayfish infestations, freaky visitors, and mounting paranoia.>A young girl living among nomadic stilt-walkers in a vast desert sets out on a quest when her companion is abducted by a mysterious aerial entity that inexplicably drops gargantuan replicas of household objects from the sky. Accompanied by an ancient woman who narrates their journey, the girl travels across the dunes to a forbidden city where the inhabitants have formed a cult around a surviving mail-order catalog, worshiping its consumerist imagery as divine scripture.>A famed detective disappears after confronting a sinister, mirror-masked killer. A young journalist takes it upon himself to finish the investigation — digging into a series of bizarre murders linked to lightning strikes, occult experiments, and a diabolical plot involving virgin blood used to craft magical masks that steal souls to grant eternal youth.
>>151787714>A jealous understudy in a local avant-garde theater troupe murders the lead actor to seize the starring role, staging the death to look like a burglary gone wrong. A detective with a penchant for chili and odd anecdotes is assigned to the case, engaging in a psychological game of cat-and-mouse with the arrogant killer. As the investigation proceeds through a haze of retro aesthetics and eccentric supporting suspects, the investigator uses unassuming charm and persistent questioning to unravel the murderer's alibi.>In a rundown apartment building, chaos ensues when a scrap collector repairs a discarded heating table, unwittingly awakening a malevolent, sentient force within the appliance. It develops a voracious appetite for electricity and eventually human flesh, terrorizing the building's eccentric tenants.>A translator plagued by vivid nightmares of an astronaut abandoned on the lunar surface wakes one morning to discover she has absolutely no memory of the previous three days. After finding a torn postcard of an unfamiliar seaside hotel in her apartment, she travels to the remote resort town depicted in the image hoping to retrace her steps, only to find that the locals claim to know her as a flamboyant woman with a different name and appearance.>On a desolate, uninhabited island off the Cornish coast, a solitary volunteer lives a rigorous, repetitive routine of monitoring a rare patch of wildflowers. Her isolation is punctuated only by the scratching of her pencil in a logbook and the hum of a petrol generator, until the flowers she is studying begin to exhibit strange, lichen-like changes.>In a dystopian industrial wasteland where garbage is ubiquitous and society is dominated by grotesque commercialism, an awkward and profoundly unfunny sanitation worker dreams of becoming a stand-up comedian. A lump on his back unexpectedly grows into a fully functional third arm, which he incorporates into his act to great success.
>>151787788A young woman is imprisoned and interrogated following the violent death of her female housemate. Confined within a stark, white-walled institution, she faces a magistrate, a lawyer, and religious figures who demand a logical confession to the crime. However, the accused subverts the investigation by spinning inconsistent narratives that blur the boundaries between memory, fantasy, and reality.>A café owner returns to his apartment one evening to discover his computer monitor is displaying a live feed of himself from the future, broadcast from the television in the shop downstairs. After demonstrating this phenomenon to his skeptical friends, the group realizes they can extend the timeline by facing the two screens toward each other, creating a recurring tunnel of information that allows them to peer further ahead.>A young couple take a romantic stroll through a huge cemetery, but night falls and they realize they are hopelessly lost. What starts as anxiety quickly spirals into a surreal nightmare as the isolation triggers a disturbing shift in the woman's demeanour, leading her to embrace a macabre obsession with the death surrounding them.>A demon rebel steals the key to Hell after a civil war among infernal powers. This demon is accidentally summoned to Earth when a band’s music invokes a dark ritual, ripping open a gateway between realms. Once on Earth, the demon must battle a host of other demons sent to reclaim the key — while strange alliances form among the living to try to thwart the infernal invasion.>A young slacker drifts through life until he meets a college girl drawn to a dark local legend. She becomes obsessed with the myth of a forest path rumoured to contain seven gates that lead to Hell — and she convinces him to join her on a drug-fueled journey into those gates.
>Over the course of a single, surreal day in Paris, a mysterious protagonist travels from appointment to appointment in the back of a white limousine, utilizing the vehicle as a mobile dressing room to undergo radical transformations. At each stop, the traveler emerges in a completely new guise to perform intense, self-contained vignettes.>A grieving mother reads eerie stories from a creepy book to the ghost of her dead son. The first tale chronicles a starving family so desperate for food they turn murderous. In the second story a man steals his deceased brother’s corpse and dresses him as a clown.>A young woman discovers that the theft of a sacred temple statue and the murder of her parents are part of a darker mystery. She is taken in by a friend of the family — but when she sneaks into a hidden room, she uncovers a grotesque creature that seems to be a horrifying fusion of lost loved ones and the stolen statue.

TONIGHT ON A NOT SO SPOOKY CHRISTMAS STREAMThrough nearly every thread, we’ve collected viewer submissions for a special stream. Tonight is our personal gift to (You). First, an extra long pre-show, including a classic Donald Duck cartoon, a brand new handdrawn tale of a lonely polar bear, the debut episode and Christmas special of the Simpsons, and the incredible battle of wits between the Aquabats and Krampus! Our first requested movie stands out as the very first animated Christmas special ever shown on television! The stars of UPA, Mister Magoo and Gerald McBoing-Boing, play star roles in a Broadway version of Dickens’ most famous tale. It’s MR. MAGOO’S CHRISTMAS CAROL!Next, a true time capsule of the 90s, Arnold Schwarzenegger stars as a bumbling father whose relationships are on the rocks. He has one true chance to make Christmas perfect for his son, and that’s by somehow finding the most popular and scarce toy on the market…the Turbo-Man action figure, in JINGLE ALL THE WAY!To conclude tonight’s festivities, first, electrifying superhero Static finds himself divided between Christmas with his family, and the emergence of a young, homeless meta-human. Finally, master thief Lupin III and his friends spend the holiday planning to intercept a rare bottle of Napoleon’s wine as it is gifted to the President.Stream Link: cy(delete this part)tu(DOT)be(slash)r(slash)SkeletalStreamer

You would waste more time trying shit on at home, and then having to waste time to package it up to return, than you would just going to a fucking store.>>151795017Feels appropriate!Especially with the severe rain storm that's going to hit all of next week.>>151789698>up at 7:45am tomorrowI might get up early to to do a bit more shopping AND maybe watch a movie, but I might also just stay put and cook. But certainly not at 7:45 am. Fuck that shit.My Friday was a party and catching up on sleep. Now I am eating dinner at 11 pm and I'll probably read or watch something before I fall back asleep!
>>151789088Reminding you Dredd has a heart under that badge.
>>151795280>>151795460Just got back - turns out the thing I was told needed to be dealt with today can easily be dealt with after Christmas (but before New Year's Eve).I thought it sounded like someone had gotten it wrong, but I needed to make sure asap
>>151795990Fuck... glad it wasn't as bad as you thought it was, but that's still bullshit
>>151796039Yeah... I need a fucking nap
>>151795081>Is... is that a good thing?Kind of. I storytimed some of the DC Rudolph comics, that year.
>>151794669I wish the venture bros one was longer than 11 minutes.
