A lot of internet resources like that are crack to autists. Maybe some of them could have benefited positively to society with their analytical talents, maybe some of them would get into trouble. Either way, it completely captivates them. Sad, because I know one person irl who's been in the tvtropes hole for a long time. He's a good friend, but I know his ambitions as a writer will be forever sabotaged by this site.

People do this shit and think it’s somehow brilliant or interesting, making nightmare fuel pages out of unfunny losers YouTube content or some kid stuff.Really everything but deviantart, Newgrounds, somewhat of shitter, MySpace and live journal, they’re probably the only good things on this place.

>>151781520Yeah, I visited tvtropes exactly once and I distinctly remember every trope name was some stupid as fuck hyper obtuse layers upon layers reference. These fuck ass titles aren't even descriptive in the least, it's impossible by title alone to know which tropes are which because I guess the autists in charge thought it was beneath them to give the tropes simple, effective, and descriptive names.

>>151781564There's also the fact that fandom wikis are a great concept on paper, but fail at their purpose because rather than being community-driven informative encyclopedia, they end up being ego-driven projects driven by the whims of the select few people managing it.There is a certain wiki in my native language internet space for example where the admin is a massive egomaniac who ended up basically turning the wiki and the use of language itself into the complete opposite of what it's supposed to do, i.e. instead of being informative, he uses it to build a brick wall around himself with terminology used by nobody but himself under the idea that this is how things "should" be according to his whims. I tried discussing it but he's shot down any arguments I had providing objective sources. And it may be just a small wiki but this shit shows up first when you make google searches about the subject.
