Stories that have the dream twist are trash by default. Will never understand why anyone likes this awful cliche. And this franchise is grossly overrated.

Slumberland is REAL. at least it's real to Nemo, and it feels real to us. Like this is a genuine place you go to while asleep, but it's being threatened by a nightmare. He saved dreams, dude.
and the purpose of Wonderland is to represent the mind of mid-to-late-19th-century children, who did not get a lot of recognition or really any attention at all from adults. It's telling them "yeah, we get it. We were kids once, we know how pretending works. here's an interesting story about pretend stuff, and it has everything you recognize in it. Dumb crap school made you learn, funny jokes a kid would make, and a girl who is both quite proper and clearly ready to ditch all that proper stuff if she only could for an afternoon
