>Captain America (also Bucky)

Why was Cap's little bitch written out of the canon for decades when he was there from the first issue?
>>
Somewhere between being an attempt to capitalize on Robin which wasn't particularly useful in the time when you have Spider-Man, the dubious nature of bringing a kid to war, or feeling it would make Captain America's character stronger if he had loss of someone very near to him.

Sidekicks suck.

Bucky was killed entirely because Stan Lee didn't like him. In general, Stan Lee disliked kid sidekicks like Robin and Bucky believing that they were too young for adults to bring into battle. Bucky's death because such a large part of Captain America characterization that that no one wanted to undo a story that Stan Lee personally wrote so he was kept dead for a long time.

Steve having PTSD from the whole situation post-freeze added a really interesting layer to the character. Kind of made me appreciate Sam & Jack more because they felt more like "partners" rather than sidekicks
