looking back, how bad were both of these?
>>151797926New 52 was good and I'm tired of pretending otherwise.
>>151797937elaborate
>>151797926it killed DC COMICS
>>151797990
>>151798015It was fucking hilarious how DC had finally got their shit together and then just blew it all up in the most incompetent way possible. At the time not so much maybe, but now looking back I can laugh.
>>151797937
>>151797926Fucking awful
>>151798005Ackshually it saved DC, WB was doing a restructuring and was gonna shut DC down, new52 gave it enough of a shot in the arm to save them
>>151797926Flashpoint itself wasnt great but it wasn’t the end of the world. The new 52 was fucking horrible. Top to bottom. No, Jonah hex, swamp thing, Batman, animal man, dial H, blah blah blah were not good. No matter how much shills say it. Superman, action comics, Wonder Woman and justice league were particularly awful. The only good one was aquaman and it didn’t need the new 52 to do what it did and it had already been good since busiek.
>>151799163Dial H was better than Aquaman.
>>151797926They literally ended the DC universe. Everything after Flashpoint has been fake and noncanon. You can't get worse than that.
>>151797990There were good comics. Too bad they didn't commit and started backtracking.
>>151798991
>>151797926It was another awful storyline that wouldn’t go away like Amazon Attack that ended up derailing everything ongoing and any reason to keep reading for me.
>>151797926>FlashpointLow-effort in many areas despite high concepts>New 52A lot of good concepts (OMAC, Voodoo, Grifter) that didn't get enough support
>DC before the New 52Spiraling downward. DC under the Didio era peaked with 52 (the weekly) and "One Year Later" but then Didio's tryhard edginess started overtaking everything: Countdown, trying to shelve Wally and Dick, constant edgy slaughtering of the Titans, messing with the New Gods right as Grant tried to do something with them, Flash Rebirth not having the same excitement as GL Rebirth. The only things that were still doing well were: Johns' GL & Booster Gold, JSA (mostly untouched even after Johns left), Dini's Detective, and Grant's stuff on Batman. Secret Six, Shadowpact, new Blue Beetle, Checkmate, and the Adam Strange-Animal Man-Starfire space stories were fun coming out of Infinite Crisis, but didn't get the marketing support they deserved. Blackest Night leading to Brightest Day was a nice event but... it got suffocated under Didio>New 52Best stuff didn't need the New 52 reboot to exist (ex. Swamp Thing, Animal Man, Dial H, Demon Knights, most of the Dark books, and some of the Edge books like All Star Western)Grant's Action and Azz's Wonder Woman could have been interesting Elseworlds OR part of an "Ultimate/Absolute" sideline with Snyder's Batman
>>151797926Flashpoint was retarded.Nu52 was a straight L for DC, trading readership for content consooomers.Altogether absolutely depressing period.
>>151797926New52 was a decent concept but destroyed by lack of adequate planning and preparation.
Flashpoint was clwarly meant to just be a stand alone arc and not an event, also it was the worst way to reboot a universe. The last you ever see of yoir beloved heroes is having them all warped beyond recognition killing eachother. If there was ever a time to reboot the universe it was Final Crisis.
