ITT: unpopular opinions about Ed, Edd n Eddy.

I start by saying that I consider the real end of this show as the last episode of season 4, but even in season 4 it doesn't feel like Ed, Edd'n Eddy anymore so I would say the most accurate real end is "The Day the Ed Stood Still" during season 3 and I Include the two first episodes of season 4 in season 3, but exclude the two last episodes of season 3 and put them in season 4.

Also the first half of season 4 feel different from the second half of it who start with the Eddy's shameful surname episode.

You have the wrong opinion.
>>
The show peaked in the first season

Why? Season 4 and 5 feels more like Spongebob and less Ed, Edd'n Eddy, with most characters getting flanderized.
>>
>>151798872
I agree with this. The vibes of season 1 are unmatched. The Ed’s feel much more like friends who are all in on schemes equally. The characterization is at its best.

Having marathoned the show last year I honestly do agree with you too. It’s hard to talk about EEnE’s “decline” since it’s still a good show thru the end of its run, and people get mad whenever anybody even suggests the show started to drop off. But yes, most of the problems that people claim start in season 5 actually start around the back half of season 4, and that half is noticeably worse than the first half.

Big Picture Show wasn’t as great as it’s made out to be. The best part of it was the opening chase scene but the rest of it was kind of boring and the ending was too saccharine and contrived.
>>

To be fair, as perfect as an entire movie of the Eds running for their lives from the cul-de-sac kids would be, they had to wrap up the one or two loose ends left, so having them leave the cul-de-sac made sense.
>>
>>151799185
The beginning and reveal of Eddy’s brother are a solid 10/10 but I couldn’t agree more with this. Fans will lynch you for saying it but aside from a few standout moments the movie drags on and on and is a very boring watch compared to any episode of the series.

season 1 is really mellow, most of the episodes aren't even about scams and it's just comfy SOL. i'm biased towards season 2 because we grew up without cable and my parents bought the DVD but yeah, the drop off is noticeable but it never gets outright bad. you can see them running out of steam and s4 would've been the right time to end it.
>>151799185
i agree with big picture show being more flawed than people give it credit for. watching each of the cul de sac kids stumble after the eds is dull and eats up too much time. since most of the movie is just the eds hanging out i wish we got more chill season 1 vibes rather than double d's more flanderized personality overtaking things. i actually like the ending - maybe it is a little too sugary for eddy to a heartfelt confession but if there's any time to do it it's the movie. i don't mind the kids instantly forgiving eddy since they already saw him get beaten up by his brother (and there's the implication that he did this all the time). the ending and the beginning are the highlights for me.
>>
>>151798798
The movie is a better ending on Eddy realizing why he's a fuck up and yhe kids finally accepting the Eds

The decline does start in the latter half of S4 but it's still a good romp. People attribute it to mostly S5 because of the
>Insanely weird schedule (I remember they aired the valentine's day special, then waited like 6 months to air more episodes of S5)
>Whiplash setting, EEnE's strength lies in the setting of an Endless Summer. Getting rid of that and having them go to School kills a lot of the magic
>Flanderization starting to set in especially with Ed and Eddy, making them more obnoxious as the show goes on

What baffles me is that Season 6 is only 1 episode. Why did they even name it that? They should've just considered it part of Season 5

Remember that episode where Eddy and Double D had a one night stand?

We're closer to the show ending 20 years ago then it premiering 20 years ago.

Making Jonny the new outcast at the end of the movie was terrible decision.

>t. Johnny
Fuck off watermelon head. We should have let Gallagher smash your head open and do society a favor.

jonny was always an outcast

I think season 5/the school setting is

>fun

On that note, "Out with the old, In with the Ed' (or at least part 1) is debatably my favorite episode of the series. Don't get me wrong - is it kind of dumb that we never actually see any teachers, or other students at their school? Yeah. But to me it's not really any dumber than never seeing any cars on the road. You're telling me there are no unemployed weirdos living in the trailer park? While I agree that the summer vacation vibes of seasons 1-4 is part of the show's appeal, I still think the school setting provided some interesting stories.
>>
>>151799567
They started production of season 6 and the Big Picture Show at the same time, but the movie's production went faster than expected so they just said 'fuck it' to finishing season 6 - is what I heard.
>>
>>151800860
>But to me it's not really any dumber than never seeing any cars on the road.
they live in a cul de sac, the only cars they'd ever see would be from their parents. the school seasons put a magnifying glass on how oddly empty their world is. frankly i'm not surprised this show has grimdark theories because this stretches the suspension of disbelief further than any of the earlier seasons.

Ideal ending would have been all kids being friends.
>>
>>151801007
No mailman? No one's ever at the construction site? No clerk at the candy store? Or anyone else on that street, for that matter. Also, isn't Ed's mom implied to stay at home? We never hear from her. And wasn't there an audience when they played football against the Lemon Brook Lumpers?

Like I get the criticism, it just doesn't really bother me as much as it seems to other people. The whole point of the show is that the other implied characters don't really matter. It's not like they're constantly referencing interactions with their parents and other people/kids off screen and we just never see it. With the exception of Edd and the sticky notes, I guess - but that's actively lampshaded as being something weird only he and his family does.
>>
Season 2 is awesome
>>
>>151801390
How is this unpopular
>>
>>151798798
The first season wasn't all that good because it involved the Eds being fucked over for no reason, which was less humorous and more so just mean to watch..
>>
Its not a real 90s show
