I haven't read too many. They weren't really a thing here when I was a kid, my friend had some Tintin books but his parents were European immigrants.
I kind of see them as mostly having good art but not a whole lot going on story wise but that might be because most of my exposure to them was through Heavy Metal magazine.
As an adult I have some I like though, I have a few Tintins and the first book of Roxanna and the Time Bird which was really good, I want to read the rest but they're long out of print.

Yes, I like them. I own some.
This decade, European comics are really the only comics I've been enjoying. I like that the people making these comics still maintain a passion for the artform and try to make something entertaining that doesn't just waste your time. Still, it seems rare even among Europeans. As others have said, a lot of European comics feel like something is missing. Maybe that's the American glutton in me speaking.

Tintin, Asterix, and Lucky Luke were all pretty much childhood reading for me, though I was introduced to it early on from my relatives who are from Europe. I also read a bunch of the monthly Donald Duck comics from Finland whenever I visited family there. I even was introduced to Titeuf when I was like 13 but I didn't enjoy it as much as the others.

Based on the ones I've read, there seems like an emphasis to begin and end an adventure in one book rather than go on an extensive series-long adventure, which I appreciate. It leads to some creative decision making on how to progress the story. The humor I think is a little more heavy on stereotypes, but in a more lighthearted way. There seems to be less restrictions when making jokes or references to sex and sexuality, but it's not really a major point of emphasis. This is at least my experience with it.

They don't really have a history, a canon or a style. Either they're trying too hard to differ themselves or they're just Temu manga or comic books. The lack of a unified style or format makes them a niche abstraction. BD used to have that but they haven't exported it to the rest of the continent. Fumetti from Italy had a great black-and-white manga-like format but without copying the style shamelessly but they also didn't export it properly and both industries are not successful and only held up by grants, tax cuts and etc.

It's a bleak state of affairs. At least, comics and manga are unique to themselves and are actual industries rather than charity cases.
