>reboot with the less popular characters
>all the other characters are referred to or off-screen
What is this specifically referencing
>>
>>151804009
every cartoon spinoff
>>

Something obscure and irrelevant like a lot of family guy references.
>>
Late 2010s/early 2020s sitcom revivals.
Most likely Fuller House which felt like the poster child when the older cast only showed up for miniscule roles and then, of all the kids not to show, it was the fucking Olsen Twins who didn't reprise, which basically pushed the whole thing to DoA

This guy >>151804206 hit the nail on the head, but it's been a staple of almost every sitcom spinoff. The popular characters can only show up for a cameo, if it all, but they also wanna justify being a spinoff, so they constantly reference characters that don't actually show up.

This was a more common thing in the past. It's not obscure, but it is dated to boomer TV culture, though keep in mind there used to be way fewer channels and shows so there was a monoculture for references like this. A medium TV star would still be recognizable to basically everyone.

All three were just a massive lampoon of 2010s television in general.
Lois's was pretty much a jab at safe-progressive sitcoms from ABC designed to appeal to suburban women. Notably the "network TV gays" were a very clear jab at Modern Family.
OPs segment was partially a jab at The Conners among others
And the CW riverdale one was self-explanatory.

Laverne > Shirley

The newer seasons of Bunk'd.
>Get rid of half the supporting cast and replace them
>then get rid of the main cast that have been there since Jessie

The Hawaii season(s?) were such shit.

Thundermans Undercover has all family who aren't regulars in this sequel series guest starring in various episodes EXCEPT Nora. They mention Nora and how she's "busy at college" but we never see her. I think that is the IRL explanation of why Addison didn't do the show, she's not avoiding the show because she did both movies, she's just focusing on college. But if it wasn't for union bullshit she could've self-shot something and sent it in and they could've had a short video call with Nora one episode. Goddamm unions

That's a result of a few things
>surviving past the hard 3 season limit
>cast getting too old/wanting to move onto other stuff

I thought it was a reference to Joey. He's just one of the Friends, and most people don't watch Joey. Joey had un-released episodes that recently got discovered, and they weren't good.

>The First Season
There was... MORE than one season??
>>
>>151806218
I didn't like it when it first came out but now I'm nostalgic for it. Not the show itself but the tone and aesthetics of that time that you see in it.

Pretty much any sitcom spin-off. Even the new Office spin-off had Oscar calling Stanley and talking about Michael
