>Luanne canonically got ugly bastard’d by a hillbilly

What did they mean by this?
>>
>>151809020
Writers 1-80'd her progression and wrote Luanne to end up like her Mom
>>
>>151809020
Realistically, it’s her best prospect in life.

Mike Judge just really didn't like Luanne as a character and really liked Tom Petty. The series feels remiss that there wasn't a little Luanne at college arc after the cult episode, and like it took a really weird turn when she went back to doing hair, even moreso when she started dating Lucky.

I would've liked to see Luanne wind up with someone else, but I think Lucky could have worked if they had done the Luanne at college arc, and then perhaps had her be the one to start working at the reality company after graduating instead of Peggy (that always felt like a weird turn for her, and working at the Bystander while still picking up substitute gigs would've been a better dynamic for her.)

That could've been really cute because ultimately Lucky could've been a stay at home Dad like he always wanted and Luanne could be this working gal breadwinner type with him being a connection to her roots and showing she's still a trailer park girl at heart even if she's moved up in the world. They could've even done an episode where she has to try to sell Pops's house, but those roommates of hers left some undesirable issues and Dale, Bill, and potentially Cotton keep scaring off potential buyers (you could even lean into it harder with Peggy trying to help but coming on way to strong and obnoxious with her helpfulness, Boomhauer hitting on one of the wives unexpectedly or being an ex boyfriend the girls talked and before and finding out he lives next door tanks an almost perfect sale, and even Hank seeming like he's going to get along with a couple that's really interested until he finds out the neighbors are liberals that ask him to sign a petition to outlaw propane because it's a dangerous gas and people should just be vegan and use solar or something so he chases them off) then at the end of the episode after her boss has threatened to drop her if she can't move the house she surprises Lucky and Gracie by telling them SHE put an offer in on the house and they're both moving in or some such.

She could've been utilized a lot more and in some ways was the heart of the show

I legitimately wonder if anyone who thinks like this actually watched the show or if they just like whining about one or two very early season jokes about Luanne knowing mechanics.

>Luanne was a white trash slut leeching off of her uncle and aunt and bouncing around between beauty school, college and whatever any random guy she hooked up with after her loser boyfriend died got her invovled in
>including getting involved in a cult and almost marrying a lunatic
>after marrying Lucky she's with a guy who genuinely loves her and tries to do right by her and treats her better than anyone short of her own aunt and uncle
>she owns her own nice house in a nice neighborhood and has a stable career as a hair dresser as well as her own child completely escaping the white trash trailer park environment she came from for good
How is that regression? Regression was when she was renting a house and then randomly ended up living with the Hills again and doing... I don't even know, random shit. She's obectively better off with Lucky than she was prior to him.

Some fanon ideas I had for the Luanne arc of anyone cares:
> Luanne starts a relationship with her college professor. After things go south, he tries to tank her GPA, leading Hank to have to intervene.
> Buck Strickland "Adopts a Highway" leading Hank and the Strickland gang (minus Buck) to have to pick up trash along the road every Thursday. At first Hank psychs himself up about it and gives Luanne a talk about giving back to her community. Luanne then tries to sign up for some kind of environmental extra curricular at school, but ends up accidentally joining the Peace Core. Hank goes through a B plot about getting harassed by litering teenagers while Luanne is forced into boot camp. Hank eventually snaps, and almost leads a walk-off after becoming disenfranchised with the activity before news of Luanne reaches him and he has to dash off to save her possibly pulling some strings with Bill. After Luanne tells Hank she just wanted to give back to her community like him, Hank finds renewed vigor for the adopt a Highway thing and the episode ends with Hank and Luanne picking up trash along the road. (Optional: teenagers are either too embarrassed to continue littering because of Luanne or start helping out because they think she's hot.)
> Luanne's Spring Break vacation somehow ends up getting turned into a family vacation, possibly after she brags to a frustrated Peggy about the wild time she's going to have. After the Hills all arrive at a destination Luanne's friend had in mind it turns out to be a nudist resort. Hilarity ensues. (Optional: Somehow Dale, and possibly Bill & Boomhauer or Kahn's family secretly tag along due to jealousy.)
> Luanne takes a women's lib class and becomes an obnoxious feminist talking about Rape Culture and the Feitshization of black people. Eventually Hank straightens her out.
> Luanne starts going to frat parties. Somehow Bobby somehow gets mixed up in it due to being funny and thinking the frat guys are cool.

> An episode about her having to cram to study for a final with comical distractions as a B plot, possible A plot if it's an episode where she deals with taking Adderall to help her study.
> After recapping the story of Noah's Ark on an episode of the Manger Babies Luanne comes across a group of students handing out Rainbow pins at school and eagerly asks for one. After a comically worded exchange results in a misunderstanding, she gets invited to an LGBT support group on campus. Luanne tries to explain the situation, but due to social pressure and desperate lesbians, she somehow gets convinced that she's gay and begins being very in your face about it and leading protests around campus. When the Dean refuses to endorse/condemn some such nonsense, Luanne winds up getting talked into breaking into the school after hours for some kind of major vandalism and almost gets arrested. Hank rushes to her rescue and they have a heart to heart where Luanne reveals she mostly just liked wearing the "pretty, pretty pins", and "getting all sorts of attention" and "never being in the wrong because I was an oppressed minority." Hank sneaks her out of the school and things go back to normal with (possible mini-arc with her quitting the Manger Babies because "she's gay" then coming back to them at the end.)
> Some kind of second Manger Babies episode
> Luanne goes to a student tutor session at the college to get her grades up, and all the other student tutors think she's ridiculously hot which leads to them pulling some strings for her so she can get a job being a tutor for extra cash. Due to her grades suffering she ends up giving a shocking amount of students bad information leading to a slew of failed midterms and a giant scandal which Hank has to straighten out with the Dean.

I agree, Anon, but I see where they're coming from and it wasn't until I had the idea for the reality thing above that I came to peace with Lucky and now honestly couldn't see it going any other way. I think the main gripe is tanking the whole: "living on her own" thing without any proper set up or explanation as well as the college thing. There was a long stretch of the series where she was in an ambiguous limbo and then they suddenly swerve her into going back to hairdressing and then before they could really win you over with that the Lucky stuff happens and that also starts in a weird way. I think if they had done a good establishing episode for him and shown he's a hick with a heart of gold that actually cares about and is good for her people would've liked it more but he's set up kind of like a one off character that just sticks around. He gradually wins you over but when when I showed my wife the series we reached a point where she said: "Oh wow, he's still here. When is she going to dump him?" and then the prom episode happens where he tried to beat up a 13 year old which just made him a hard sell until the Luanne's Dad episode, Lucky's Code, and the Wedding finally redeem him. I think part of that was probably Judge not expecting Tom Petty to be willing to stick around and then trying to keep the joke going for too long to entertain him. It's understandable but I'm my humble opinion as an armchair show runner it could've been handled just slightly different and would've went over a lot better

Women don't really care about looks if the personality is good enough
>>
>>151809020
Lucky ain't the worst hillbilly I've seen
>>
>>151809211
I watched the show anon, they kept dropping the ball on Luanne by repeatedly dropping her subplots or never expanding on tidbits about her. Having her end up with a HillBilly was just the icing on the cake and it's partially why people don't like Lucky
Other than him being ugly of course

Lucky had a good personality?
