You know, I really didn't like the new episode. I mean, Caine has been going out of his way to do nice things for his players, but they just keep treating him like a bad guy. And he's not! He's trying his best to make them happy and give them exciting adventures, but all they seem to want is boring mundane adventures about running fast food places or watching the stars. Boring! And worse yet, every time he tries to alter his adventures to tailor them closer to what the players seem to want, they STILL complain! What on earth do they want from Caine!? He's trying his best, it's not his fault his humans are so unreasonable! Since they didn't immediately press the blue button it's obvious they do love Caine, but they need to start showing their appreciation more! Why, if I was the Jaxatha or the Zoobgle or the Pomner, I'd go right up to Caine and say "Hey, Caine! Your adventures are super cool, just like you! We love you, cool guy Caine!".

I don't usually like the shy meek characters but I like Gangle and want to see her interests explored more, I've liked the scenarios it brought. I feel like her happy mask episode felt very forced. It seems like the masks affect her true mood as how Caine's "temp control" powers work, but she' expressing a lack of appreciation for indulging in the positivity. Like yes, it's not truly herself producing the positive feelings and attitude, but how could she feel like she's faking it or not true to herself? Do the masks just change how she expresses herself or is it actually affecting her mood like I assumed? Because the story clearly wants to potray it as a facade, the average metaphorical mask, but if it's changing her mood more like a drug I'm not seeing why she's acting like it's playing pretend. Jax, the person everyone knows is the button pusher, is the only person why hinted at a shred of negativity to upbeat Gangle. It's not impossible for a comment from someone you shouldn't be listening to to still seep in and affect a depressed person critical to judgements, everyone else was neutral to positive about Gangle's alt attitude. The read I get from her personality is that she truly is anxious and neurotic to not be a fuckup. Ragatha displays it more as approval-lusting, but Gangle is self-deprecative and, while wante approval, does not view that as the end goal or the cure to her inhibition. So I saw the mask more as medicine than a mask, an extra element that helps balance the person inside and out, it certianly came off that way, and the only reason she began to doubt it wasn't because her attitude was shitting up the place, but because she just got too into the roleplay (which tracks that a fujo in her element would feel comfortable RPing like that more than ever).Either I don't fully get it or they confused their own symbolism that episode.

>>151815994Judging Goose's comments on each episode, with the finale being "what", and the absurdist nature of the show, I'll think it'll end like this.Jax will almost abstract, they'll save him from the brink, probably with a Daisy Bell reprise. They'll come to the conclusion of being stuck in the circus forever but it'll be okay with what they've got right now. And that's it. It'll be as satisfying as the ending of Night in the Woods, so not at all.

My guess would be next episode sweeps up the lingering Jax issues and the circus members really become a team who can work with each other, but they deem Caine to be the problem and actively try to escape into an adventure or something against him.Final episode is Caine breaking down like the zooble conversation, except Caine overloading to that degree causes the circus to take on the form of his inner self, basically they’re in his mind.In his mind we get the last lingering bits of lore goose wants to give about C&A and the outside, and we also learn that Caine is just as tortured, if not moreso, by his duties and the daily goings on of the circus. Pomni must make the final decision to restore Caine or delete him, she chooses to restore him (bolstered by the lessons she’s learned from Gummigoo and Kinger). This experience allows Caine to shift his mindset a bit and he becomes more aware of what it’s like to be a human, and he’s able to tweak the daily circus life to be more accommodating.The whole show is character therapy (not a negative) and Caine will be the final boss of that.

>>151815994The gang sneaks into the abstracted basement to get Kinger to remember details of the simulation. They sneak into the background areas during an adventure and find the REAL Admin Access area. Inside they can disable or reset Caine to shutdown the Circus. Only one person can go in and Kinger can't go in since he has to monitor Caine so everyone elects Pomni to go inside. Pomni goes to the Admin Access setup with screens and buttons with different functions. She sees that External Cameras are off. When she turns it on she sees the C&A offices completely abandoned in a mothballed research wing. No one is studying them, no bodies in vats hooked up. Maybe some ambiguity on whether they're copies or fully digitized real people, but there's no way to escape into the real world. Pomni considers just shutting down everything as a mercy but sees one button that changes her mind. She leaves the Admin Access and Caine appears almost immediately. He starts rambling about all his systems coming back. He apologizes for his treatment, swears to never send them on an adventure again and disappears. Pomni explains that there is no way back to the real world but she does have a consolation. She takes everyone to an obscure part of the Circus and fiddles with a wall that opens that looks like the Void, but more a stream of info. The button Pomni saw was Network Access. They can't go back to the real world, but they CAN leave the Circus. Everyone decides to leave, except Jax ("Eh, I'll keep the lights on for ya when you get bored and come back."). Just before they leave, Caine appears and asks if HE can join them, he wants to learn more about humans and leaving him on his own would be dangerous so they agree. Caine gives Jax the keys to the Circus (like a literal giant keyring). They all leave with Pomni going last, waving to Jax. Play the song from the end of episode one with a zoom out of the Circus, ending with the monitor in the office turning off.
