Kiff is appealing because it depicts both personal moral lessons, but also more broad civics and socialization with other kids and adults. Kiff and Barry specifically have childlike sense of curiosity as a baseline, but importantly they are responsible and contentious and concerned for other, proud of their family and town. Notice how Kiff is something of a celebrity and addresses people by their names. but it's the rest of Tabletown that provides the context to discover and learn and grow. The town itself is central to the show and the story of each episode leads them to discover or engage with be helpful a larger scope of other townsfolks.
