Youtube and the internet are simply a much bigger ocean than it used too. Back in the late 2000s and early 2010s a video getting a million views, let alone 2, would have been a huge deal, becoming of the big viral hits, and since the user pool was much smaller, a bigger percentage of the platform would have seen or heard about it.

Nowadays, you can get channels with tens of millions of views and subscribers that are still a miniscule drop compared to the amount of content that gets watched daily.
