Each one disappearing slowly over a night, but a couple of them were terrified of being the last one left alone in an empty universe...which does happen. Then they all sort of wake up in the middle of normal typical lives in another world with no memory of the off superhero shit they were a part of before.

Unlike the abused women in this comic, this abused man's attempts at healing himself involved raping women. Julie, Sara, and Gloria never retaliated with sexual abuse. That's a man thing. The author got that right.
