One pet peeve I have about 90s AU stuff is that the depiction of the 90s is always that 1990-91 era that's indistinguishable from the late 80s. You never see the characters dressed up in flannel, oversized JNCO jeans, skater wear and etc. It's always that kind of Malibu Barbie/Saved by the Bell pastel look.
