You can really feel how audiences have shifted towards animation lately when pic related, an experimental adult mini-series featuring some of TV's most prominent animators, gets basically zero discussion from the animation community.
>>151820162>some of TV's most prominent animators,Slow your horses, anon.
I'm tired of "experimental" animations just being adventure time over and over again
>>151820162Yeah people are sick of the same shitty 10's millenial slop and a good chunk shifted to anime
>>151820162Didn't Ward not even storyboard the thing? And Patrick McHale is the only one that's a competent writer
>>151820179They're very popular people in the industry with quite a few accolades under their belt, whether you like their work or not. The only way the list could've been more stacked is if Alex Hirsch and Genndy Tartakovsky were a part of it.
>>151820162>Make dumb shit that only you and your animator clique with barely any life experiences connect with>Be surprised when audiences stop showing up
>>151820162This promo image shows absolutely nothing to encourage anyone to watch it.
>>151820201Adventure Time isn't even that good, it had 3-4ish good seasons before it became a pretentious soap-opera melodrama with loreshit, and judging by how people complain about it here and on twitter, the latest content is just a white millennial women slop used as therapy session, aka SU.
>>151820162Only the last part seemed to understand the assignment.
what the fuck was that first act
>>151820276>McHale's partNot surprising at all
>>151820162If I wanted to watch Adventure Time, I'd watch Adventure Time.
>>151820162Do you not have a calendar? does your computer not have a little indicator on the bottom right of what time of year it is?nobody's looking around for new shows.>>151820202>>151820256goood parrot, here's your cracker
>>151820226This is honestly the feeling I'm getting. Adventure Time very much adapted to the times and gives loyal fans who stuck around stuff they want and new concepts as well that flesh out the world they grew up with. Experimental stuff like this is hardly unique or credible these days. It's at the same level of engagement as it would be in 2015. Animation fans shouldn't be shocked and instead should be giving people reasons they should be excited if they like it so much
>>151820162>Pen Ward isn't giving us Bubbline yuri >Rebecca Sugar isn't giving us more SU >hardly anyone even knows who Ian JQ or Patrick McHale are The Elephant was never going to be huge news because as much as some of you like to pretend, most people just want more of their fav familiar IPs. But Adult Swim is known to take big swings like this, so I'm still grateful. This was a cool special, even if I was one of maybe 20 people who actually saw it.
>>151820320Free board, faggot
>>151820204Ward still co-wrote, designed, and directed his section. He also animated some shots himself.
>>151820162anon I work in the industry and I didn't watch this because it just doesn't seem that interesting
>>151820219Nah
>>151821348Yes.
>>151821362Nope
>>151821649Yep
>>151820320>Do you not have a calendar? does your computer not have a little indicator on the bottom right of what time of year it is? nobody's looking around for new shows. And nobody does because their concept are trash, just look at Velma, trashy concept wearing an established IP as skinsuit
>>151820320Sometimes things are said a lot because people agree with it not because they are trying to reinforce it
>
I'm extremely fatigued from all the animation styles shown here.I'm tired of the CN regulars, even with the strongest being Remus and Kiki's, I felt the character design and writing held them back. This concept is really good but isn't refined. Everyone seems to be going for some larger scope which is kneecapped by each segment being capped to around 6-7 minutes long.
>>151822240>Selling your big ol' animation hoopla with pictures of these chucklefucks.I do not like their era. I do not like it a awful lot.
>>151820162Got a mega?
