I can't stand these self important, meta episodes about unused characters and plot points in modern Simpsons. It's like it's no longer even a cartoon, just a pretentious commentary on its own existence. Why does it still exist?Being self referential isn't smart, it's just admitting you have run out of ideas.
why are you even still watching it
>>151840061the show was getting more meta in Season 8 because Oakley & Weinstein assumed it would end soon
>>151840085I don't, not regularly anyway, I sometimes check to see how low the series has fallen, and now these episodes are what everybody talks about
>>151840061None of those adjectives describe that episode.
>>151840153It describes the tone the series has taken. A cartoon about its own existence is inherently pretentious
why do you even acknowledge a cartoon that's been nothing but a walking corpse from the last 30 years??
>>151840183I already said why, I'm curious just how long and creatively bankrupt it can go before they finally mercy kills it
>>151840211Its nuts how you make any thread on /co/ and how many responses you get just telling you to stop talking about cartoons. Its like there are people who hate talking about cartoons, who ckme to the cartoon discussion board just to tell people to stop posting.I used to do that too, dip in and see how bad the simpsons has got but it got too heart breaking. That was a looong time ago so i can only imagine how bad it is now.
>>151840160Again, not even close to an accurate description.
>>151840863No, I think it quite literally is the definition of self important to have the existence of your cartoon as a plot point
>>151840872Except it isn’t, and I have no idea what the fuck you’ve been watching to make you think that.
>>151840061cute feet
>>151840061I hate this shit too but Simpsons at least earned the relevance and airtime to make years of meta trash, there are enough good episodes to live off of. New shows going there with the jokes as early as season 2 or 3, though, that’s running out of ideas.
>>151840061>Why does it still exist? To keep the IP alive for merchandising purposes. It really doesn't matter what happens in the modern episodes, as long as it's on air and relatively inoffensive.
