It's war, then.
So?
>>151842395I rather watch Dune
>>151842395Are they trying for a Barbenheimer thing?Well, either way, I wish Dune the best.
>>151842557>Are they trying for a Barbenheimer thing? They could and should have, normies were already memeing "Dunesday". But it seems WB is playing it as a straight rivalry.
>>151842557Barbie and Oppenheimer targeted very different audiences with few overlaps, which is why the meme took on a life of its own, and it ended up being beneficial to both films.Doomsday and Dune 3 are targeting rough the same audience
>>151842395>>151842500I'm watching neither
>>151842750>>151842395>let's get people to watch two three hour movies on the same dayyeah, that'll work.
>>151842395This isn't surprising they know the MCU isn't the powerhouse it once was Doomsday is going to flop
>>151843098Doomsday could very well be the worst fucking film ever made but in no world it'll bomb. You're overestimating normies' standard since they've proven time and time again they'll eat any shit if it appeals to their member berries. NWH and D&W are the very definition of nostalgiaslop and both made a lot of money; this is supposed to be that on steroids.
>>151842830Same demographic, but I’d argue little crossover. One is a “prestige” blockbuster for geeks that actually care about sci-fi storytelling, the other is desperate franchise slop. Am I completely off? Barbenheimer was the result of two completely different movies, but they were both from auteur directors so there was a lot of meme-potential crossover from cinephiles wanting to see both. Whereas I’m excited for Dune 3 and have zero interest in Doomsday.
>>151842866wow ur cool
>>151843074Crazier things have worked
>>151843514>NWH and D&W are the very definition of nostalgiaslop and both made a lot of moneyThe former's Spider-Man who prints money easy and the latter's Deadpool and Wolverine. Deadpool 3 didn't even make much money since the budget was $500 mil.
>>151843686>One is a “prestige” blockbuster for geeks that actually care about sci-fi storytelling, the other is desperate franchise slop.
>>151846358That same article estimated that D&W made over 200 mill in profit, and even the number of 1.3 bill was impressive due to the limitations of the R rating. But that's besides the point, which is how audiences eat nostalgia like shit on a silver plate.
