I’ve seen it more than any simpsons episode

I've never seen it.
I'm just not big into the Simpsons. Really I shouldn't even be bumping this thread from page 10 because I have nothing to contribute to a Simpsons conversation.

It's a very weird feeling movie because of how many writers contributed to it. You get the occasional golden era style comedy but it's mostly zombie Simpsons.
I also don't like how "cinematic" it tries to present itself (e.g. forced character arcs), feels very uncharacteristic of the show itself.

Honestly, probably the product of another era, but I had this on DVD in college or whatever, and it'd get played enough. Or on HBO or whatever service my roommates had before streaming.

It's the same reason you'd watch something like Resident Evil 2 84 times because Sienna Guillory is hot. Nothing better to do.

Waiting 18 damn years to make a movie was way too long.
The Simpsons was already a fossil in 2007 when there was the Bayformers, Pixar and Nolan's Batman movies to compete with.
Pic related had much better timing. It came out when South Park was still fresh and used ideas you couldn't pull off on television at the time. Still holds up too.

I remember the massive hype for the movie but never saw it until recently a couple of years ago. Just haven't been following the simpsons for a long ass time. It was pretty bad honestly, the animation was nice in some areas but everything else felt so...off. The characters, the story, the comedy. All felt off.

I think they knew the movie wasn't going to be good so they overhyped the spider pig scene because I remember that scene being fucking huge back in the day.

I saw it when it came out and honestly it didn't make much of an impression on me. I couldn't tell you if it was "good Simpsons content" or not. But I wasn't actually a Simpsons fan until about 2 years later when I started watching all the episodes with my roommates during my freshman year of college. I think we managed to watch every episode of the first 13 seasons during our first semester.

Honestly, I re-watched 5 or 6 episodes this morning while wrapping presents just because of the "Al, let's have sex" thread that was here earlier today.

Me neither. I respect the simpsons but the humor doesn't resonate with me and episode plots are sometimes stupid with not much else to keep me interested. Even the "best" episodes I don't know how to take seriously.

Not saying it's a better show, but I prefer family guy honestly.

I will always have a soft spot for pretty much whatever season 6 episode of the Simpsons. I do watch Family Guy to this day though. Fans say family guy has gotten bad, but those early seasons fucking suck cock. I love family guy when its just telling jokes. The worst aspects of family guy are when they get emotional and dramatic, or have an episode focused around meg. drama for a comedy show is cancer, and every meg episode is comparable to lisa, she bitches and complains her way through the episode and doesn't tell jokes. Brian and Stewie episodes are always gonna be fun to watch, Peter and the gang are always great episodes to watch, even to this day. I can't watch modern simpsons except for the annual Halloween special, and even then those episodes suck kinda. One year had 7 minutes dedicated to politics becoming monsters fighting like Godzilla. those writers should be taken behind a shed and shot.
