I wonder what it's like for gen alpha to watch a show that's still running that was airing 20 years before they were born.
>>

Homer and marge were kids in the 60s and teens in the 70s i hate that these talentless fucks keep moving it up in time. Matt I hate you, you gay ass freemason.

Don't worry anons, we're slowly approaching yet another timeline shift where Homer and Marge's teens were in 2000s.

Your fates are intertwine. For one to die, the other must also take its final breath.

You are innocent in this, but to slay the beast, you too must fall. I'm sorry for want needs to be done.

keep it going. Long enough it'll beat Sazae-san. And be remembered for a different reason.

It gets worse. The clothes in question were fashions coming from a Dawson's Creek parody. So we're talking LATE 90s.

Sazae-san has the benefit of being more like a newspaper comic strip. Outside of maybe how characters are dressed, what decade the story happens in is non-consequential. Meanwhile, the Simpsons made specific moments anchored in time.

When did The Simpsons end for you?

For me it was the 2007 movie, I've only seen snippets of episodes made after that and they look really bad.
>>
>>151856055
I know it's a common sentiment but I really do see Behind the Laughter as the "end" of the show. Seasons 9 - 11 aren't quite as good as the golden age but are still funny in their own rights, and imagining the show ended there means that it still would have kept some degree of dignity. Plus just the structure of the episode feels like a decent way to end it.
>>
>>151856055
Like most animated series, the movie is and will always be the finale.

How far removed was 1945 from the present day when Simpsons premiered? 40ish years? How much longer until Abe could have served in the first Gulf War?
>>
>>151856150
I mean homer would have been born mid to late 50s, childhood in the 60s teenage in the 70s married late 70s, bart is 10 so in if it started in 89 hed have to of been born 79., thats grim
>>
>>151853573
I think it's normal for them. There are no major franchises which were created during Gen Alpha's lifetimes except arguably Bluey. From their point of view, almost all pop culture is stuff from previous generations, because Hollywood will never let anything popular die.
>>
If you don't watch The Simpsons anyway then why do you care if they end it or not? It's not like it makes a difference in your life.

Probably in the same way Gen Z and Millennials viewed old Popeye or MGM cartoons, it was just another cartoon on TV. At the time, I didn’t realize it was older; I assumed it was contemporary and had been made around the same year I was watching it. Since it was new to me, I thought it was new in general. For kids, the concept of “the past” doesn’t really exist yet.
>>
>>151856666
Satan+ is right. Growing up watching stuff like Looney Tunes or Tom and Jerry was just part of the routine with me. Having Cartoon Network on the air showing pretty much those entire catalogs made those characters a staple of my childhood
