>>151855373I actually think the watercolor era is pretty hit or miss, especially for all the praise it gets on here, but theres some great stuff in the watercolor era. Saying the comic never looked good is crazy though, the stuff right after silvershore (chapters 47-55 especially) look amazing. The artstyle in that era was dynamic, well proportioned, and super expressive, especially the faces. I studied those chapters to learn how to proportion facial features because it looked so good. I think the omnibus chapters look really good too, i love the original artstyle for volume 1 too but the combination of her old and new style for the omnibus came together so well. For me the cracks started showing when she started doingg the dark eye outlines, during that era the shapes stopped flowing as well and the art started to look a little more awkward. The earlier watercolor stuff was pretty good, the big head era (e.g. boy toy) was pretty ugly though. I'm not a fan of the current digital art, but i will admit that the style change this chapter is a genuine improvement and it seems like she's slowly figuring out how to make the digital art look good.

>>151856853>>151855373I much preferred the old art.Yeah it wasn't wowie zowie super professional, Murata-level art, but it looked much better, it was more proportionate, more serious, and more 'soulful', for the lack of a better term.Besides, the technical aspects of the art itself aren't that important in this case, IMO. It just needs to convey the message properly. Maus isn't super well-drawn, but it is a classic comic.
