thinking about it, its probably the only time ever the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come has ever spoken to my knowledge.

It's also the only time the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come has been depicted as sexy.

I hate depictions where the GOCF is depicted as malicious. He's supposed to let Ebenezer figure it out, building the horror. Being snarky about it ruins the grim nature of the reveal and makes it so the viewer forgets that what happens to Scrooge is his fault, and that he's the one expected to fix it. Doing shit like that just makes it seem like it's other people moralizing that gets him done in, not the natural consequences of being a greedy cunt.

I was just watching this earlier.

In the book, he's also the only spirit that pauses and lets Scrooge prepare himself for the visions. He's honestly kinda chill for an ominous spectre of man's grim fate

6yo me didn't know who Pete was so I thought it was Satan.

I always thought it was wild Scrooge McDuck pre-dated this special by like 40 years. Always assumed he started there and they liked the character so much the adapted him to Ducktales.

honestly...still my favorite holiday special.

and it's a shining beacon of oldschool disney quality during their animation studios lowest slump.

Agreed, I've never liked the adaptations where he comes off as antagonistic, like the Zemeckis adaptation where he chases Scrooge everywhere. It also makes no sense for him to torment Scrooge at that point in the story, he's shown a point in his life where none of it matters anymore. The end result of a bitter old man's legacy laid bare with no money to comfort him or wealth to send it away. In the book he is just showing him the sights, he wants him to follow along and see the horror of his own making, not anything the spirit himself caused. It makes no sense to spur him or make him run away or anything like that. He's leading around a man in denial so he can face the facts, not trying to scare him straight.

Weirdly the Muppet one seemed to nail this. He's spooky in an ominous way, but he's not out to scare him.
