Characters played around a table are basically never consistent, because no matter how much you want to seriously roleplay you will get dragged into doing something funny in the moment of the scene anyway even if its out of character. For a streamed game like Critical Role, thats not just nature but mandatory: you have to keep the audience entertained. Likewise, Sam voicing the character at the table is fine. You can't expect a guy to do a convincing female voice at the table, you just sort of work around it. But for a cartoon, there's just no excuse. this is your opportunity to BE BETTER than the source material, the only reason to keep Sam in as the voice of the character is because you want to cut him a paycheck.
