>>151860001No clue, it's not even shadow banned anymore
>>151860001It's a silly half-length Christmas short that's probably non-canon anyway. It doesn't even have the bomb-ass theme song

>>151860001Could be worse>Last episode screeched to a halt at 462k views, less than half of the last one>And even the most popular episodes don't hold a candle to other indie cartoons. >All while costing 60k an episode and the creator constantly shilling it to no success

>>151860206Well that isn't me.
There's a recent trend of these indie originals doing Christmas episodes very early in the run, and I hate it. You have a very limited time because it takes half a year or more to make an episode, because indie, and you're going to waste it on irrelevant filler. I'm not against a Christmas episode, but if you're going to do it then save it for later when things are well established and we could use a breather episode, or make it relevant.

Why is American Media pretending to be Japanese so common nowadays? There was a videogame at The Game Awards that had the same schtick.
>>151860937Because so many creators grew up with anime. Duh.Japan wins, South Korea!
>>151860937Remember that bit in The Simpsons Movie where Tom Hanks says>Hello, I'm Tom Hanks. The U.S. government has lost its credibility, so it's borrowing some of mine
>>151860937It's fun
>>151860277I'd say you should assume you're only ever going to get 8-12 episodes and spend them appropriately. So save your Christmas episode for, like, episode 6 which might be just before the penultimate episode. Your setting is well established, we know and care about the characters, and we could all use a break plot-wise.
>>151860001fun fact:less than 1% of the world's population celebrate christmas
>>151860001>What went so wrong?Shadow banned from youtube, this has yet to show up on my front page or rec sidebar. As with his last videos, the fucking reaction videos show up first along with other unrelated shit before his videos/channel shows up.Youtube hates animators.
>>151860277Same as a webcomic but for cartoons. Make good work and people will show up and return for the next one if they know it exists, but if you hope to make regular income off of a channel, you need a plan. Work ahead, stay on schedule, announce airdates and hiatuses, and promoting yourself regularly but not excessively is most of the work. Buffer for cartoons looks like being ahead of your update and production schedules when you launch, not sitting on finished episodes. Filler shouldn’t overshadow main work, secondary post/video content for relevance should be a very small time investment within your overall workflow, not all focused on BTS/production updates, so you attract the audience that will want what you make beyond your first cartoon.

>>151860001WE'VE TOLD YOU A THOUSAND TIMESIT'S ABOUT 20 YEARS TOO LATE
>>151860102Ugly whacky gremlin/creature dude with a reedy build and a sarcastic or put upon personality is basically the closest male equivalent to awkward quirky brown lesbian in cartoons so that's not surprising, people were sick of weirdo loser male leads back in 2010.>>151860277Personally?If you're predominantly a comedy, you can do whatever, nobody gives a shit, yes, even if you're also a lore show, comedies live and die pretty much purely on having nothing more than lots of character scenes. An example of this being done with a show that's reasonably likeable would be Big Top Burger, where sure maybe the lore and plot is kinda fun, but ultimately I don't really give a fuck and only care about seeing the whacky burger clown and his food truck crew have funny adventures, because it's predominantly a comedy with a comedic world, tone, and style. In shows like that, a random christmas special is fine basically fucking whenever since you don't really give a fuck about anything other than having content above a certain level of quality, the focus of said content isn't super important, your plot isn't real.If you're doing a somewhat serious show, however, even if it's sometimes comedic, akin to a classic saturday morning cartoon or the like, it's going to depend a whole fucking lot on your structure. Somebody doing a gradual build with like, problem of the day/monster of the week plots to give us time to get close to the status quo, the characters, and get familiar with the world building can probably afford a christmas episode. Somebody trying to shotgun their LORE as fast as possible or have a constantly moving and tight narrative almost certainly cannot until they've got at least a half-dozen 10-20 minute episodes worth of content out.

>>151860937Western media has unironically been collapsing due to blowing massive fortunes first on flopping products and marketing campaigns for them, and then on astroturfing said products and attacking critics of them. Disney for example has literally resorted to shuffling their shit around between branches to inflate numbers because of how poor their profits since Covid have been, with all of like 3 of their projects since that started having genuinely made money. Sony finally managed to bleed out the absolute last of their PS2/3 warchest and IIRC even the music division's access to various gatcha game revenues is making them struggle, most of the comics industry is on life support, the professional animation industry is straight up dead with most of the indies having to literally reinvent shit from scratch like fallout bandits trying to figure out fire in the ruins of a matchstick factory, Hasbro has been struggling desperately and forced to bend serious knees to try and shore up some of their bottom line because on the /tg/ front WotC has actually blown through a fuckload of their money, and even Games Workshop has been forced to finally pay attention to fans and transform into an IP farm, while White Wolf was straight up taken out behind the shed after V5.And east asia moved hard to capitalize in their own ways. When Star Wars finally finished tanking so hard that it's a borderline dead IP, Bandai Namco actually got ballsy enough to frontline a huge mecha-boom to seize a lot of space in the global sci-fi market that was up for grabs to the point that we're getting a Gundam Base in Chicago, meanwhile about a dozen manga, anime, and games spent the last 5~years kicking in teeth and, by the western corp reactions, fucking people's mothers. The complete devaluation and collapse of all these industries has them increasingly clinging to surface level attempts to LARP as asian, esp. Japanese, to borrow credibility and legitimacy for their struggling IPs.

>>151860193Me!
>>151860193It's for people who love both cartoons AND anime instead of constantly pitting them against each other
>>151860937I think it's far less despicable when it's obviously a parody for a Jap thing. Gaijins just steal and act like Japan didn't exist most of the time. That's 100x worse.
>>151860001500k isn't bad, not every toon needs to be the next big thing. Besides it's cozy to have a small fanbass.
>>151860964>Japan winsIt's the opposite. China makes tons of anime shit clones and bans actual anime and manga when they feel like it. The other non-Japs aren't so different, mentally. It just means gaijins can do whatever they want to Japan and get away with it. It's gonna be really tough for Japan.
