It also doesn't have a strong foundation or legacy compared to DC. When was the last time you ever found yourself caring about any one of the Avengers (besides maybe Thor and Hulk)? Besides Winter Soldier for Cap and Demon in a bottle/Armor Wars/Extremis Iron Man, when was the last time you ever thought about Captain America or Iron Man?Comparatively, DC has the much, much stronger history with its mainstay characters. Everyone can recognize Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman because their designs and concepts are perfectly embalmed into public consciousness. And it doesn't stop there. DC has always been the better of the Big-2 when pushing the cornerstone of how comics should be written and interpreted as. So many writers were brought over and gave us stories like Sandman, Animal Man, Watchmen, Swamp Thing, the Vertigo lineup, etc. Marvel just can't compete.
