It's less that they were wild for the 1940s and more that our view of history is completely mangled by Neo Whig History (SJWism). The 1960s-1970s can't have been the Era Of Liberation unless the 1950s and 1940s etc. were part of the Era of Repression. Therefore, everything before [insert date] must have been uniformly sterile and oppressive and Problematic etc.
