Why does Coates' Black Panther get treated like gold when it's the Priest run that deserves all the praise?
Normies have no taste. Hudlin's run was the first time Black Panther was ever a best-seller.

Priest is too clever for his own good and doesn't make the kind of dumb slop that sells.

Priest’s run got a lot of praise for years though. It’s just that Marvel is rare to push after a decade in favor of more modern stuff. It has its time but marketing is going to push writers that are more active with the company, and comics with more modern styles.
