1. Feral designs - If they were anthro, furries would have gotten way more out of them
2. The creator did not handle the online fandom well with trying to dictate what people can make (though the autistic fag that kept harassing them with their incest porn until they replied WAS in the wrong) that kills off fandom engagement quick and turned people off
3. Let's be real, the main reason is the show sucks. The entire hype was over the characters and their gay as fuck interactions before anyone saw an episode. The show itself was lame once it was made avaliable so it died off after that

Some artists managed to workaround it, just ask anybody if they had a hard time trying to drawn anthro art of Balto, considering that character is a fully-fledge feral with a bit of human intelligence in terms of having a speaking role. But unfortunately, the permise wasn't interesting enough for furries to care about ancient history.
