It's pretty hit or miss, honestly. Some of the stories are good. The art is not that great, and that's something that's really important.
>>151883391I agree for the most part. It feels like a limitation of the self-contained episodic format of most issues.Anyway I think I'll dump the second issue since it was on my mind.
THE SCOOP
OUR HERO (gone before you were even born).
Cult of the Street Shark.
My mistake it's street sharks (plural).
AMERICA FUCK YEAH (bald eagle cries in the distance, fireworks explode)
Jawesome.
You must choose to become one: Daily Planet or Daily Bugle?
And that's the end.
>>151885015>>151885029>>151885049The inking is fucking atrocious. Genuinely some the worst I’ve ever seen. As bad as Byrne inking himself on Wonder Woman.
Alex Ross's art is the chef's kiss.
>>151885841>chef's kiss
>>151885720The colors too.
>>151883391I think the entire thing was built off the idea of "Superman would love flying, but he would have to stop constantly to do hero stuff. What if we did a comic about how Superman keeps track of how many seconds he was able to fly."And then just wrote other rejected Superman stories.
>>151885241Old Soldier has the coolest fucking design.
>>151885720>>151886827inks are a bit overrendered but the colors really don't help.
>>151887471Agreed.
Even as a huge Busiek fan, Astro City is usually pretty underwhelming. Steeljack's great though.
>>151888030I think it's his best work by a lot, writing wise. The problem is he didn't have as good of an artist as some of his other work.
>>151888030>Steeljack's great thoughHell yes. I love Robert Mitchum.
