She's making a a character with a strong sense of self let herself be defined by her relationship with others.It's just the writer tossing out Power Girl's whole identity and characterization, that she's had for decades, and replacing them with shit that betrays the very essence of her character. And the way it's presented is condescending too, like "everything before doesn't count nor matter but this does, and this is the change that this character needs".
