Honestly, I'm really impressed with this movie in some ways I can't begin to possibly describe nor imagine. It's like a Disney version of Rankin Bass's animated movies from earlier before.Even when lighthearted in its feel, the tone, mood, and story of this is unusually dark for a kids movie. Especially a Disney one, at that. Like, REALLY dark. But with 2/3 of the rest of the movie, the atmosphere gets ousted by the pacing, suspense, and characterization. All of which is just a complete slog.Still, in some ways, I'm honestly really impressed by the visual and subtle detail. Like how the majority of the VAs were mainly British English. It really helped played to the movie's strengths with staying authentic as much as possible. Really seemed like a far cry, also, with how Dark Souls would use proper English/British VAs in their cast when localizing. In all respects, though, I would honestly say that this is my favorite pre-00s movie in Disney. And that's saying something because I really fucking hate Disney. What did you guys think of it?
>>151901513I loved this movie when I was 5. It was the first Disney movie I watched, before the classics or the renaissance

I think there's something to like, audience expected something they didn't get it thus they fucking hate it even if the thing is actually good outside of that context.
>>151901513Eilonwy was my first cartoon crush. Her voice was so captivating to younger me. I think this movie is what started my desire to be some cute girl's knight. Sadly, nowadays that's just seen as being a simp.
