>>151907588Malted milk is a powder made out of barley, wheat, and powdered milk that you add to stuff to give it a unique taste and texture. A malt is what you call a milkshake that has malted milk in it. Malt shops used to be popular hang outs for teenagers from the 40s to the 60s because they usually had jukeboxes in them. Malt shops were also called soda shops or soda fountains because in those days soda would be mixed up using syrup and carbonated water by a worker called a Soda Jerk, basically a bartender who serves soda. Malt shops pretty much went extinct outside of the rare nostalgic throwback just as soon as the modern soda dispenser was invented and made the soda jerks obsolete. Malts can still be found today at most restaurants that specialize in ice cream, or you can make your own if you buy Ovaltine. Be sure to drink your Ovaltine.
