Are you wise to comic book sales gimmicks, or do you not care?
>>151923886Huh?
>>151923886Only shills are around right now. No one's gonna answer in earnest.Except me. I'm wise to them, so I don't buy them anymore. They need to make good comics to get my money.
>>151923886I like the art, but I don't buy them.
>>151923886Admittedly occasionally I'll buy multiple variants of a book, but it's not common, and I don't intend on them becoming investments for resale. Typically I only get one copy and it's whatever variant I like the most.
If it's a small series and has matching variants or ones by the same artist, I'll buy the set. Other than that, the only variants I go for are rarely a cool one-shot like the holiday ones.
>>151925528>Only shills are around right now.Really leading me to believe Marvel's fucking freaking out about the Hollywood Reporter article about DC lately
Along with pilot episodes, variant covers are things I don't like about american media.
>>151923886I do this thing where I go to the website advertising the variants and I hover my cursor over it and then I click the download button and I get the variant for free.
>>151926024Pilot episodes are just making an episode as proof of concept, which is useful for showing it to people that might air it. Also you can find some issues that might crop up so you don't have the first few episodes inconsistent with the rest of the show. That seems like a weird thing to dislike. In fact, I'm sure there are examples of this in the culture you think doesn't do that.
>>151923886no im stupid
>>151923886Which sales gimmicks, aside from variant covers?
>>151930166Renumberings, crossovers, events, reapplying iconic happenings to different characters, reprinting books in a new format (Penguin Classics, Compact, Noir, etc.), you name it.
