For years cartoons have had these cynical dynamics where the parents/married characters hate each other or constantly cause conflict for the other so I like the flood of cartoons now having the married couple supporting each other more.
>>151925516You would enjoy The Great North, OP.
>>151925516Cartoons aren't a good way to cope anon
>>151925578Snopes debunked this actually
>>151925516I think it was less about cynicism and more that the conflict of the dysfunctional marriage led to comedic moments. Mind you the couple did love each other at the end of the day and it was more so a matter of certain daily issues being exaggerated for comedic effect. But over time it became flanderized and just became two miserable people cohabitating despite having no actual care or regard for the other. Their positions as husband/wife just became another role that didn’t feel organic or meaningful, just something they filled because the show demanded it.
>>151925516I think both parties should be equally stupid, for maximum funny
>>151925516I can't think of any positive ones in recent memory.
>>151925516conflict = comedywheres the humor in a couple that has no issues and just agree with each other on everything
>>151926297>>151925833Both of you should watch The Great North.>>151925557
>>151927076Conflict with the neighbor, Dinkleberg
>>151925624Ok, you are weak and stupid
>>151927076>loving husband and wife who have an extremely healthy and affectionate marriage but have constant conflict with all of their neighbors>they are objectively in the wrong most of the time and are genuinely shitty neighbors but it's them against the world and all they need is each otherBoom, there you go.
>>151928857I love this from villain characters too. The Nuclear Family from Justice League Action for instance.
>>1519256654th post best post
>>151925516The rare happily married villains
>>151928900>>151928964Villain/villainess couples that genuinely love each other and have healthy relationships despite being evil people who do evil shit is my favorite thing.
>>151929004>Evil couple have a healthier relationship than the good guys
>>151925516if im not mistaken every marriage that showed up in fairly odd parents showed how much they loved
>>151925516It's accurate to real life not to be happy. :(
Just write Hal and Lois. They managed to embody the spirit of 'goofball husband/girlboss wife' without most of the shortcomings simply because they're actually written as being in love.
>>151930093AND there's still tons of conflict, that entire household is a portal to Hell. You can have a dysfunctional family that doesn't hate each other.
>>151927076Constantly in conflict != we hate each other. Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie had this figured out decades ago.
>>151930093Their whole relationship was one of the highlights of the series for me. At the time their dynamic felt really unique compared to the usual husband-wife relationship in most shows. Even today I can't say there are many couples from shows that had that same kind of energy.
