Cyclops is one of the most popular X-Men to exist and is often considered the de-facto leader of the X-Men as well as being a main character in ever X-Men film and intrinsically tied to both of their most infamous storylines (Dark Phoenix and Apocalypse) of course they would use him. Hes THE X-Man since Wolverine was both not originally an X-Man and also has his own solo adventures. If they hadn't already used him for Deadpool & Wolverine then I'm sure they would've went with Logan.That's like trying to take credit for Superman being in the Justice League.
