>B-but they can’t even kill major villains in the comics! How does writers giving villains massive plot armor somehow debunk the pros of capital punishment? We’re talking about applying their philosophy to real life, not a story where logic is discarded for the sake of the narrative.
>NOOOOOO YOU CAN’T JUST HECKIN KILL THE JOKER SURE HE NUKED MILLIONS OF PEOPLE AND TURNED SUPERMAN INTO HITLER BUT HE CAN STILL BE HECKIN REDEEMED!>Oh, Charlie Kirk? Yeah, I’m glad that racist chud is dead. This is REAL justice!Make it make sense
>>151930123Why is Red Hood in your picture
>>151930123Capital punishment isn't a punishment at all, if anything, it makes criminals NOT have to live through any actual punishment, it's very stupid.
>>151930157Kirk killed himself though, pretty crazy how his neck did that
>>151930157There’s a difference between being against advocating extrajudicial murder and not fake mourning when a propagandist dies in the most ironic way possible.
>>151930123These characters are actual examples of plot armour since if Punisher even tried to fight guys like the Wrecking Crew/Rhino or Red Hood went up against Cheetah, they should be crumpled effortlessly since they are normal guys who shoot well going against bullet proof freaks that can topple buildings and barehand fight Thor, Wonder Woman and other big league superhumans.
>>151930123You need to be 18+ to post here
>>151931213>ironic
>>151931802He got shot while talking about gun violence, as he was about to do his usual pivot to blaming black people as a way to dismiss the gun crime stats. And his death is even more ironic due to his stance that gun deaths are acceptable because muh 2nd amendment.
>>151930157His wife's also glad
>>151930123The problem with these stories is that they make them all-knowing killers. The stories are all written to justify their worldview. That's why Moore's Vigilante remains so relevant, or why this type of character only works in badass parodies like Marshall Law and Dredd. You can't write them directly without having to resort to simplistic DAD action movie plots.
>>151930123>Prove them wrongbeing able to kill someone without due process means condoning a society where you can just grab a gun, go to a public space, and gun someone down in cold blood because you think he did something wrong
If anything the writing only highlights how the whole rest of people are composed of clinically or criminally retard bunch of people. The state, the courts, the judicial system and legal system, the security forces are all utterly stupid, incompetent or criminal because the only way to deal with crime and worse, marauding homicidal madmen like Joker and his ilk, is to rely on equally unhinged vigilantes, either murderous one like Red Hood and Punisher, or full of issues like Batman or Spider-Man
>>151931835I'd say the latter is definitely ironic yeah.
>>151930123It's disingenuous to hide behind plot armor as a valid excuse while ignoring how it goes both ways. The only reason prison is treated like a revolving door in comics at all is because of plot. Without plot armor, most of the villains sent to jail would either have stayed in prison for decades or gotten killed during the time. The only exceptions would be the rich, connected guys, and even then they could maybe pull off getting out of jail a couple times before it sticks.
>>151931882This is also true, you can blame Batman as much as you want but ultimately it's the system that keeps letting Joker go. Batman is straight up giving them a known dangerous lunatic nicely wrapped up and the authorities keep fumbling the ball. Gotham is a shit hole because the people running the place are incompetent, not because the furry in a batsuit doesn't go around murdering people.
>>151931859> being able to kill someone without due process means condoning a society where you can just grab a gun, go to a public space, and gun someone down in cold blood because you think he did something wrongAnd if that someone was a pedophile, people would universally agree with that attitude.
>>151930123You know what? In his quest to get back at his dad- i mean his quest for effective justice, Red Hood has killed too many people. We need to put and end to his reign of terror. I am picking up the name The Crowbar and I'm going to kill Red Hood, because he kills too many people.
>>151931899>people would universally agree with that attitude.no one wants to live in a world where you can be gunned down without warning because someone thought you were a pedophilekilling someone you thought was a pedo who turned out to be one isnt justice, thats luckit would also become trivially easy to get away with regular murder because murder is now a daily occurenceallowing people to determing who lives and who dies also implies the average person should be able to make decisions about other people without any oversightwe also just want to ask if we want to live in a society that condones capital violence with no due process or oversightwhile no one is going to grieve a pedo getting shot, there is going to be significantly more argument if a shoplifter should be shotif society condones ordinary citizens shooting people if they feel they deserve it, then there ultimately nothing stopping you from shooting a shoplifterthis would also mean corporate deathsquads roaming the country side killing people to defend their intellectual property is now an arguable position to takeso citizen executioners would need a a detailed list of who can and cant be killed, and then they would need to prove they are trust worthy to carry these acts out, and then they would need someone to fact check them before they grab their guns and kill peopleand we have just reached due process
>>151931898The worst thing is that they kept sending a psychopath like the Joker to the same place, the same local asylum instead of sending him away from Gotham and the Batman, the sources of his obsession. A couple of times would be acceptable, but when the writers put Joker death count in in thousands and changes him from a criminal with a clown motive to a deranged murder with an obsession with the protagonist its just too much for a suspension of disbelief, the writing and setting suffers.
>>151931835So every driver who dies in car accident is an ironic victim because they find car deaths acceptable for much traversal?Car kill more people than guns in US and people find that acceptable due to their utility, that was Kirk's point.
>>151931919I feel that this type of plot has a cathartic element that appeals to audiences. It's the idea that justice can be done in a society where there is so much bureaucracy and that being good and doing good is not the default state of affairs. I think you can still tell these kinds of stories, but they tend not to go into the psychological aspect of these actions. They take place in a separate universe where firing a gun is second nature. It has no weight; it's almost like video games take away the weight of shooting a gun at someone's head.
>>151931930If they were a political pundit who dismisses calls for better safety regulations on cars, yes. That would make it ironic. That’s how words and their meaning work.
>>151931930No you see, a school shooting happened once, therefore we need to both take away all legal firearms AND defund the police, so that law-abiding citizens have absolutely zero ability to protect themselves from criminals! NOTHING is more important than the rights of criminals, not even the rights of taxpayers!
>>151930123Just stop reading DC and Marvel comics. Your enjoyment in life will actually be better for it.
>>151931950>better safety regulations There is nothing better than keeping off the streets repeated offenders. Depending on the area, you could cut gun homicide rate by 70-90% this way But anything but that, because you don't care about gun homicide, just about seizing means of self defense of lawful citizens
>>151930123so this isn't a comics & cartoons thread, it's just a /pol/ thread where you pretend to debate capital punishment?
>>151931911You know what? In his quest to dunk on OP- i mean his quest to take down Red Hood in the name of justice, The Crowbar has killed too many people. We need to put an end to his reign of terror. I am picking up the name The Shit Post and I'm going to kill The Crowbar, because he kills too many people.
>>151932000The rapes and killings by immigrants will rise until America is British again. It is imperative that you must not be allowed to fight back.
>>151931959>school shootings happen onceAnon, this is a recurring behavior in the US. Even in my shithole, kids that are in gangs don't do that. It's like the US problem with gun availability and probably the public school system. I don't know, I'm not American, but I know how availability influences things. A child who is likely to shoot someone will have a harder time doing so in a country that restricts guns. I know they can get any other weapon and go berserk on everyone. But these are rare cases, and they do it opportunistically, and people can overpower someone with a knife.
>>151931911>>151932011The problem is, in order to end the cycle of violence, SOMEONE has to choose to be bike cuck. And each side will moralfag about how the other side has to be the “better man”, but no one is willing to be the guy who said his family deserved to die, and that he’s happy never getting justice.
>>151932019>I don't know, I'm not AmericanI’m curious, without guns, how do you stop your country from turning into a 3rd world dictatorship like the UK where the government robs you of all your privacy and refuses to protect you from crime, and the system is so fucked you can’t even vote your way out of it? I couldn’t feel safe in a country where citizens have zero power or tools with which to usurp their authorities.
>>151932000>We need mass incarceration! You already have done that shit for close to half a century and it hasn’t done a fucking thing about gun violence because that’s how much you like fantasising about people being shot and killed.
>>151932049Well, if citizens just shot the rapists and robbers dead themselves, then they wouldn’t need to waste tax dollars keeping them in a cell, would they?
